    Thinking of buying a BMW 320D sport in the north, when i went onto ros.ie it is saying that the duty on an automatic is a couple of grand dearer, is that right?

    yes, vrt is higher here as Co2 is, pushing OMSP up.

    autos don't use any of the new co2 saving features that bmw have. Of course thats assuming you are looking at newer bmws.

    If looking at > 2 year old ones, vrt on a auto is more because they are more desirable. couple of grand sounds a bit much though.

    The auto consumes more fuel than the manual, hence produces more Co2 which means it falls into a higher VRT bracket.
