No problems for me the price on the website was the final price for me. Saved a nice few quid using cheaptickets.com

Hi LisaO, how did you check in with aer lingus? Just a passport or did you use a booking reference? What baggage allowance do you get, was it the same as BA's? Did you have to collect your bags a Gatwick? Cheers

Hi Kazzer. Used Aer Lingus booking ref to check in at Dublin - they have new check-in area with touch screen terminals which print your boarding pass, etc - it was very simple & straightforward. Baggage allowance was full BA allowance & bags were checked right through, so no need to collect at Gatwick.

I looked at flights on cheaptickets.com when I was booking a trip to the States and, while the ex-"taxes" and charges prices were very good, the actual "taxes" and charges were higher than anywhere else.

Clubtravel.ie is very good for cheap flights.

I got a return to SFO last June for 410Euro inc Tax etc and a return to Vegas next month for Euro410 inc all taxes and charges

They seem to have the largest choice of airlines and routing which means that they can get the cheapest flights.

They are also an Irish registered travel agent and are fully bonded etc and they have a shop in Abbey Street if you need to talk to them

Their customer service is excellent and they always respond to e-mails as soon as possible

Yeah but nobody beats cheaptickets once you get them at the right time. You just have to be patient and keep checking and you can get return to NY from under €200 including taxes. But it is not available all of the time.

Has anybody travelled with the Aer Lingus/ Virgin Atlantic combination in the last month or so? I went onto the Virgin site yesterday and using the flight number issued by cheaptickets.com I was able to change my seats, order specific meals and fill in the U.S. immigration forms in advance, which I'm hoping is going to be a big time saver. The only thing is,when I changed my seats and requested a new e-ticket from Virgin it said it could only send it to the original e-mail the flights were booked with.As I did'nt book directly with them I have'nt got a clue what e-mail they have and when I went to check the seats on cheaptickets.com this morning, we were still allocated the original seats we had when booking.I'd like to get this sorted as the last thing I need is a mix-up with the seats and both sets to be sold because 1 site or the other thinks they are empty!

Got a flight to Vegas for my birthday in November for €262 via http://www.unitedairlines.co.uk Yes I know its nearly a year away but I like to plan! United do not take Irish credit cards on the site but do if you call the reservation number on this page http://www.unitedairlines.co.uk/local/english/customerservice/index.html

They do charge £10 for booking over the phone rather than on the website,

I just booked a week in Chicago in March with cheaptickets. Just wondering if anyone else has booked a package through them, and how it worked out? Seems to good to be true as we're getting flights plus 7 nights in a really nice hotel (rated #2 hotel in Chicago on tripadvisor) all for €620 each.

I'm hoping there'll be no nasty surprises when we get to the hotel!

Booked Dublin Orlando during mid term next month for €260 return incl all taxes (190 +70). Flights with Delta via Atlanta.

However, got best price on club travel website not cheaptickets!!!

I stayed in Santa Monica - really liked it there. Great shops, great beach and full of beautiful people :)

You will need a car to get ANYWHERE in LA though as there is zero public transport - it took about an hour to drive to Hollywood.

Iv a full license but scared drivin in dublin so think I'l leave drivin around LA!!

I stayed in Santa Monica and there was plenty of public transport. The blue Bus Company do loads of routes.

Advice - Stay away from the Ocean Lodge Hotel. Great location, but they ripped us off, and it's quite unsafe.

As with all flight information, the times shown are local time so for example departing Dub @ 2.20pm is local time in Ireland and the 8.52pm is the local time in LA when you land in America

Flight times are normally local. So its irish time leaving dublin and arrving in dublin and visa versa

Just updating the thread, I got back from Orlando on sunday after travelling with cheaptickets.com and I'd highly recommend them. The journey went without a hitch and virgin atlantic are a dream to travel with, right down to baggage allowances.I came back with 3 (big) extra suitcases and a guitar and they could'nt have been nicer! The saving of over 1000 euros went well towards the park tickets.

Also just to add that I travelled to New York with British Airways and Aer Lingus that was booked through cheaptickets.com for €192 return in mid Feb.

Everything went great and I can completely recommend cheaptickets.com to anyone who is looking for cheap flights.

I'm doing a similar thing this month, can I ask if you had any problem with the aerlingus leg of the journey, the reference I got on the cheaptickets printout isn't recognised by the online booking system..... Also what was the baggage allowance for the flight. Thanks

The baggage allowance was 23 kilos. beware though, I was over 3kg as my sister packed my suitcase with her shopping and it cost me 45 dollars on the way back.

No problem with Aer Lingus with regards to check in. You should ring cheaptickets and they can give you the British Airways reference number which you can enter into BA's website and pick seats etc. And once you have that you are sorted because you can print out your online booking form for both Aer Lingus and BA.

Only problem we had with Aer Lingus was a ridiculous check in system which meant that we almost missed our flight to gatwick and had to sprint from the check in area to the other side of the airport. So make sure that you get there early and don't trust them to call all of the flights that are about to close. Otherwise it should be fine and NY rocks!

Was this in Dublin airport you had the problem or NFK. Also can you tell me what terminal the aerlingus flight flew into from dublin and if you had to go to a differnet terminal to get the BA connection? Cheers

It was in Dublin. They basically just had a completely stupid checked in system and loads of ppl seemed to be missing flights.

We had to switch terminals in gatwick all right. As far as I remember we flew into the South Terminal and had to switch to the North Terminal.

I think there are less airline seats available this year with the carriers mothballing aircraft instead of flying them with lower fares

Having said that there a few deals around
    DUB-EWR-DEN Continental 05/12 - 13/12 €261
