Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

An Irish citizen serving with the British army's Royal Irish Regiment has been killed in Afghanistan, the Department of Foreign Affairs has confirmed.

According to reports, the soldier was killed in an explosion while on a routine foot patrol near Sangin, in the south of the country.

A spokesman for the British Ministry of Defence said it will not be confirming any details, as the soldier's relatives had requested more time to inform the wider family circle.

Lieutenant Colonel David Reynolds, spokesman for British forces in Afghanistan, said: 'This is a tragic loss and one that will be felt across the taskforce.

'Our thoughts and sympathies are with the friends and family at this most difficult time.'
