Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hi, just wondering when this years sparrows will be leaving the nest? We've had some nesting this summer in the end of our garden and we want to wait till they're gone to do some major garden work! The chicks are still around, we see them flying to and from the back most of the day... just wondering when it'll be ok to start the work?

There are a lot of birds with late broods this year, so I would wait until the end of this month before checking again.

I have a pair of robins out the back that are feeding their third successful brood of 2008.

If you're seeing chicks flying around then they have left the nest already. The nests are usually under foog tiles on in boxes so I'm a bit confused about where they are at the bottom of the garden. You may well be seeing fledged birds and can therefore go ahead with your gardening.

When do the chicks of all bird species hatch and leave their nests? What months?

That's just too broad a question to answer here, as it varies from species to species. You can check the common one out here:

or check out the RSPb or BTO websites.

Could you give me an approximate time frame. March to August?

The beautiful and rare Eleonora's falcon which nests on mediterrean islands doesn't start to breed until late July/early august:D
