As a Moderator of this forum, I think you should stfu and let the thread flow as it is.
It is more irrelevant and off-topic to highlight the fact that there are moderators from other forums here.

Funny I don't think she has the saggy jawline to be akin to a bulldog, but who knows maybe she drools alot.

There is no time limit on a mod taking action in a thread.

And my Name here is Thaedydal or Thaed, I am just a poster in this thread, but damn it I am a free poster not a number.

Personally I would say Palin is more of a yorkshire terrier then a bulldog.

OK, seeing as I was the one who originally dragged things off-topic, I was going to stay out of this, but sure what the hell, here goes:

    - My original post was made while under the influence of drink. It was inappropriate and I apologised for that, so that should be enough, let it go.

    - One point I feel does need correcting however, Adolf Hitler was very much right wing. National Socialism had nothing at all to do with socialism, it was a fascist ideal and as such was the polar opposite of the ultra-left wing ideal, communism. My comment about Palin being to the right of Hitler was a throwaway remark, obviously she's not quite that far to the right, so again, let it go.

    - The status of other moderators makes absolutely no difference whatsoever. If I post in soccer, for example, my modship of several other fora is completely inconsequential, I'm just a regular poster there. That's how it is here when mods of other fora post here. This site doesn't operate along the lines of some others where a mod has powers over all they survey. Everyone gets to look after their own little patch, outside of that you're just a regular poster, so please, please, please let it go.

    - Thaed, save some popcorn for me please.

See the thing is this is not the politics forum, if you want a debate and to defend her I suggest you post there.

As for me I have no time for her or what she stands for what so ever /shrug but I do admire that she walks her talk even if I think she is crazier then a rabid dingo, wearing bright green lipstick.

Yeah, I regularly hear and use the phrase "somewhere to the right of Genghis Khan"... it's not meant to be taken literally. It's used ironically, satirically... surely you can see that, donegalfella?

That's a fair point, tbh. I think the issue is that none of the other posters who were making anti-Palin remarks were nearly as agressive as donegalfella was making pro-Palin posts. They didn't keep on posting and keep on posting. Oh well, I'm glad we've all agreed to leave the Palin discussion alone in favor of the OP's original question (which I did answer with my first post, btw.)

I just see myself as a woman. it's not that complicated is it?

    Woman.

Men who don't/can't understand women might feel the need to shoehorn us into categories to make it simpler for them but I don't feel the need to define myself in terms of some other creature.

It's hardly a feminist issue though. Just a bit of a laugh. I mean it's healthy enough to see how you would define yourself in the context of something else. Animal vegetable or mineral. It's a woman(AFAK) that put the question anyway.

Plus women can be complicated. Bloody complicated at times. People are complicated, men or women. So sometimes it's at least diverting to try to sum ourselves up, however inaccurately.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

Whew! My Galway Gran told me never to bring up either religion or politics in mixed company, and I am beginning to think the wise old bird was correct after viewing this thread. The OP was intended to be light and fun, and the mention of Sarah Palin was for illustrative purposes in passing, and not the intended subject of discussion.

Tsk, if you think that's bad Blue, they deleted my post on this thread just cause I've been going through some *changes*, and I'm not fully a woman yet.

well.. I have been described as the Northern winds... always somewhat aggressive, but sometimes pleasant and cool other times warm and strong ;)

Using the word Socialist in the name of your party doesn't actually make you a socialist or left-wing. But I do agree with you that extreme totalitarian regimes of any hue eventually tend to resemble each other.

And your point is ...? :D

Anyway, on-topic ... I guess I'm a somewhat cuddly bear who occasionally growls just to stop himself being beaten up by the bigger fiercer bears! :o

Well I guess that's how I see myself then. A self important penguin with eyeliner who uses misplaced capitalisations (but I spell it with an 's' not a 'z') /nitpick to highlight that I (and Zaph) are the only moderators in this thread with authority.
It's very relevant when those moderators are trying to dictate what and who is on- and off-topic here, while themselves introducing discussions of Sarah Palin's sexual attractiveness, Sarah Palin's stance on global warming, and Sarah Palin's ideological proximity to Adolf Hitler. Why don't you tell them to "shut the f**k up"?

I only tell the trouble makers to stfu. You were getting hot headed and argumentative while running around telling everyone what they should and shouldn't be saying. I personally don't mind if the topic sways toward Palin or not, it has more relevance than who says what.

In the future, if you have a problem with a post then please report it. If you have a problem with the moderation then you can take it to feedback. It is prefered that you do this rather than take the thread off topic for discussion (Yes I am aware that I am doing this now.)

lol... i was quite looking forward to reading this thread, thought i'd find it quite interesting and then... bleeehhhh....

but im trying to figure out what im like... i was initially thinking in animal terms, until watna decided she was a marshmallow.

in film terms, im a mix between juno and dory.
    animal terms... ringtailed lemur/mouse/puppy.
food terms... skittles, and lots of. im all colourful and sugary and chewy and stuff. my eyes have gone wide and a lil crazy just thinking about copious amounts of skittles now...

A bear's bear, sometimes even a bare bear ... really depends on how much bear I can bear to be at any one point in time ...

Sorry to be ridiculously pedantic, but didn't Palin ask what the difference between a Rottweiler and a hockey mom were?

I don't know all that much about breeds of dog, but a pit-bull and a rottweiler are different breeds of dog, aren't they?

  • Registered Users, Subscribers Posts: 47,304 ✭✭✭✭Zaph

They are, but if either one of them was chasing after me trying to take a lump out of my arse I wouldn't be turning around to check which breed it was.

I would, rotties have a weak spot in the chest that if you kick it hard enough you can disable/kill it, pit bulls are not as easy.

Personally, I'd go for the nuts.

    Its thinking like them....

When I was 1 or 2 apparently our dog bit me in the bum. We had to get rid of him, and I've never had a pet since. :(

    Woops. OT. Sorry.
