    any use?

    Yes and no.

Using one of these will reduce the signal in any other direction other than where it is pointed at. You will also need to buy a cable to go between the antenna and the wireless unit. Extra cost.
This antenna is designed to be mounted outside to increase signal coverage to over 1Km in one direction and I would consider it inappropriate(and overkill) for what you want. You could use it if you're not too bothered about losing signal elsewhere in the house.
Look for an omnidirectional 2.4 GHz antenna of 7db or greater that can be connected directly to the router.

Another option is to buy a booster amplifier which will increase the power of the wireless by about 5 fold but these units are quite expensive.

you could try out an Alfa AWUS036H USB WiFi 500mW Card, get it on ebay for 40 euro + stella doradus 2.4ghz 10dbi Omnidirectional antenna off wi-pipe.com for about 50 quid, half meter cable will cost bit extra..probably overkill.

but it would definitely solve your problem.

At the end of the end of the wirelless is ok , homeplugs are 100 times more reliable and you'll have a constant connection as log as you don;t have a powercut ;)
First check that the power in the shed is on the same ciruit as the shed.
And get the 200mbps plugs that only use one socket
It is advised that you don NOT plug these into extension lead boards.
