The N20 is closed just before Rathduff village.

    Chaos is going to ensue.

Looks like I chose a good day to take off.

Getting out from the city to South Ring Road today was a mayhem today... Was that the cause?

    It certainly wouldn't have helped.

Traffic going from the Mallow road right through to the Tunnel/S.R.R is bad enough at the best of times, but this will make it far worse.

Were you delayed longer than usual?

Absolutely - that is just a inconvenience for us, life changing for the participants.

It only shows how stretched the infrastructure is in Cork...

Wonder is the same fella that's always lurking around there?

I know the fella, he was doing a speed trap at the Blarney exit in a car the day before the 2 fatalities up the road.

Very odd how it was a single vehicle accident though, was the road wet or an oil spill perhaps?

Why did it need 3 units from the Fire Brigade?

That’s what I’m at a loss to understand.

A statement has been released saying the road is now closed until further notice.

Because they don't know if it was indeed a one vehicle incident, or a hit and run.

The cop is seriously injured, they probably want to make sure they leave no stone unturned in their investigations as to the cause.

    Hopefully that person is ok.

Major mistake in the first paragraph of that examiner article.

    Absolutely!

A Mallow based Garda according to RedFM news.

I worked with a now Garda who is based in Mallow when i was doing security in the early 2000's who doesn't live far from the accident scene.

A quick recovery for the Garda hopefully.

    What way is traffic?

    I'm deliberately avoiding it.

Traffic was slow, like morning rush hour. Wasn't helped by the traffic census and a speed van siting in the trees after Grenagh.

Just seen on the Garda Traffic Twitter thread on here that the Guard hit the wire that divides the road.

The speed van probably thought it was quids in today. Is the survey van the white one with a red stripe?

i'm guessing they didn't start investigations until daybreak.

Yeah, Seen a comment on Facebook, not sure if I should repeat what a passerby said they seen.

Once a Guard or Garda vehicle was involved, it comes under CSOC jurisdiction. That might explain, a different protocol.
