Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Guys

Nearly finished the plans (next week) and looking for some help, We are going to go with a contractor and working on a tender doc at the moment. Architect is helping but good to get some advice

    1. What U Value should we specify for the windows, need it super tight, a lot of patio doors near the Kitchen and Sitting room. Who is the best, Munster ?

    2. Render, seen a 20 year Guarantee with <SNIP>, who else is good ?

3 Granite sills, who has the best and most reasonable with price ?

    4. UFH, Confused and what is the best to use as the back end, oil with .. . ?

    5. Can all wooden floors be used with UFH ?

    6. Slates, going with natural slate, again who is the best and most reasonable ?

    7. Is there such thing as slow growing grass  ?

    8. Other items I should include in the tender so I don’t get a guy pricing the cheapest he can find !

    9. Know any good contractors in the North East.

    Thanks
    :D

In relation to U-value you need to be looking close to ONE. You should ensure that the manufacturer / supplier gives you this certification for your windows, patio doors etc.....

render - you can get a 60yr guarantee on some renders - monocouche stuff - again check with the plasterer of these materials that they are certified to do so.

there is slow growing grass - not sure what the name of it is but if you google it you will find it

Your architect should ensure that your house meets all new regulations especially in relation to energy regulations - solar panels etc....
Probably best to look around your area and see who is building eco / energy efficient homes

not sure about the other points
