Here is another nail in the ntl/sky coffin :), as the five contract with sky is finished (june 2008) and they are just rounding up the legal work five, fiver and five us are all going free on astra in november (or beforehand). if anyone gets a sniff of an unencrypted signal, please post it here.

'a freesat representative has given a fixed date for the arrival of five, Fiver and Five US - November 2008'

Five is going to freesat, they've stated this a while back, but they said fiver, fiveus cannot come to freesat. and the link you provided is questionable...at best.

Sorry Tim it looks like you were wrong after all, ment to post this ages ago

Update: A number of you have asked about Fiver and Five US, the official statement from Freesat is:
Due to lack of availability of appropriate satellite capacity, Fiver and Five US are unable to join freesat currently. However, we are exploring options to secure capacity to enable these channels to join freesat at some time in the future.

how do you make out its another nail in ntl s coffin when they do nt even carry those channels !

com7 didn't you just answer your own question ?

ntl charge for a service. freesat is free.

ntl dont have five. fiver or five us, freesat has five & is getting fiver & five us.

people dont want to spend at this time (ntl). freesat is free. :)

i'd say in the last 6 months i've personally seen 20/30 people leave ntl for freesat, i have not seen 1 go the other way (2 did get sky though)

Well they were sort of right, FIVE did join Freesat in November 2008. It's only a matter of time before FIVER and FIVE USA join too.

Well they have to find some space on Astra 2D first, after that it appears to be their intention.

Space on 2D is what's holding back FIVER, FIVE USA and Channel 4 HD (that and their contract with Sky that ends this year).

Seeing as there are some duplicate channels and tests going on, it's a wonder they haven't joined already. With a little rejiggering of channels on 2D to different transponders on 2D there's room for the FIVE channels to launch, it's just getting the others to agree to it.
