    Hey guys,

Just looking around to get broadband into the appartment at the moment, all I'm looking for is broadband and no phone package.

Is that possible to do that, I see eircom are doing 3mb for €29.99, this would be perfect but is line rental extra?

    Thanks in advance

Yes Line rental would be extra.
Where do you live? Need to know this first before recommendations can be given.
If you live in Dublin/Galway/Limerick/Cork then you could Digiweb Metro which needs no phone line.

Or if you have cable TV, then you could get up to 20mb BB from UPC.

    I'm in Swords, Dublin.

Is that Digiweb metro a wireless broadband? Arent they all useless like Irish broadband etc?

Cant get the UPC one as we have Sky coming in through ISR.

There are quite different products, even from IBB.

I'm in Swords as well, use UTV ClickSilver. Got a 3mb line with them for 23.99 a month I think plus unlimited for an extra 5.99. So works out the same price but no download cap. Last lot I'd choose is Eircom as their offers are just not competitive imo.

Edit: You need a line for UTV as well, and line rental works out more or less the same as that from Eircom.

Digiweb metro is wireless but it is good. If you want to avoid line rental and cable is out, I'd go with metro.

At the turn of the century we had cable broadband on Swords.... Albeit it was the horse and kart kind of 256mb

    The UTV sounds interesting.

How much is eircom line rental?

Your preferred options would be (in no particular order)

Digiweb Metro - if you really dont want a phone line @ 29.95 per month & 99 Euro Install

Smart (in an LLU area) - 38.00 per month including line rental and all off peak calls, free install, uncontended broadband

    BT

1Mbps bundle - 39.00 per month, includes line rental, call bundle 10GB limit, contended

    UTV

    46.34 per month - details here http://www3.u.tv/UTV_Internet/Residential/ClicksilverBroadband/index.asp
