This was taken with an Olympus OM10 as far as I can remember. If not that, then an Olympus AM100. Film anyway.

I think that was actually the first photo I took with my D40 ever. After that, I shot another 73 million flowers. Then my niece. Then some flowers. Then my niece with flowers.

No longer have the original, but this is the same photo - it was suggested I take himself out of the centre and put him to the side, so I did and replaced it. Just picture it centred, if you will..

Don't think it is the first as I remember this photo that I did not like so messed around with it in ps upping saturation levels and sharpening it within an inch of its life. thankfully I have learned to restrain myself from repeating this.

My very first photo is lost in the mists of time and, as it was from the time of film, is probably in a drawer somewhere.

My first photo on flickr is this one. A little back story to it as it is of a singer called Jhonn Balance who was performing with his group Coil at Dublin City Hall. Coil aren't exactly a household name but they're one of those rare groups of musicians who have a massive impact on those that hear them. They certainly wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea but this performance was most moving at the time. It turned out to be even more moving in retrospect as it ended up being their final performance, Jhonn Balance died a couple of weeks later following an accident at home. He's looking up here and fittingly, the last song they played was called "Going Up".

I joined flickr to join a group set up by Coil fans to collect together paintings by Balance and photos of the group and ended up getting a lot more into photography and using the site more and more. I feel I've really come on since then (particularly since I bought a proper camera), this shot isn't very good but as I said, it has a resonance with me beyond a simple gig shot.
