    What is the shortest phone line you can get? I need a very short one as phone is right beside the phone jack in the wall

    3 ft is the standard length you can buy over the counter.
    Your left to make your own if you want anything shorter.

    You can get really short cords for wall-mounted phones that click onto those silver wall-phone sockets that eircom used to install at one stage. They're still common in kitchens in the US.

    You also get really short ones on DSL filters like about 6" long.

    Maplins sells the tools for crimping your own. Just make sure you get RJ11 crimpers though and not BT ones! They sell both and they look similar.
