    Hey there,

Just wondering did anyone out there ever do the 1 year course in live lighting and music production? I went to their open day a few weeks back and it seemed like a thorough enough course. Job prospects are few and far between im sure but if you did that course and are working now id love to hear what you have to say about it.

    Thanks!

I did the course from 98-99 and have been there ever since. Been head engineer here for 4 years now. Was a very good course and they do try to get the hard working students jobs at the end of it. There are a good few PA companies in Dublin that you can start with too.

I did the part-time sound engineering course in 06-07.
It was quite good. I learnt an immense lot which really helped me give the foundation to teach myself more advanced stuff now. Its also a great laugh. The guys there are brilliant and love their music. Its real fun too.
They do try to get you hooked up with some sorta job towards the end of it too... But i kinda got a little messed up towards the last month and missed out on those bits. Even it wasn't easy when you're full time course is medicine!

Now i wont say how beneficial it is or how much of it you could just teach yourself at home too, but i'll say that you will learn good loads and it'll be real fun and a great laugh!

I didn't do the course but used to work there. I work now on big outdoor gigs and festivals and I see alot of faces from my time in Temple bar working on the gigs full time. There's no doubt that it works. But be prepared to put the effort in before you get the breaks.
