I would hope so,I thought exactly the same.I reckon(and hope) for January 2009.After all,why would any college have an open day if they aren't going to want new students?

No I couldn't see myself going for UK police, not even PSNI really. I was always really interested in joining An Garda Siochana. Nothing would make me more proud. That being said, UK forces would probably be better in certain areas such as funding.

Any recruitment campaigns are advertised in the newspapers and on publicjobs.ie.

It won't mention it until there is a new campaign open, but if you register with Public Jobs you can set up an alert for when a campaign opens up again. In the mean time all you can do is sit tight, you may be in for a long wait unfortunately. But have a good look around this forum as it will give you a really good idea of what is entailed in the recruitment process. Hope that helps! ;)

On the open day you will be shown all the college facilities. Equipment such as cars (from the driving school), stingers, alcolysers, speed gun, Gatso (nearly sure there was one there last year) etc.

Basically it is a good day out especially for the children. You will also be able to talk to members about the job ans students too about college life. Well worth a day trip.
