    just reading the article and it says the bombers were intercepted by USAF F-16's over iceland.What would the purpose of this be - Inspection?Or just a kind of "yeah we're watching you.."?

    Interesting , Venezuela showing their true colours eh !

    In the cold war this used to happen a lot , not sure if the RAF still maintain the quick reaction force they used to have , at RAF Conningsby they used to have a couple of Tornado F2s sitting warmed up in a HAS , that would be ready to scramble in 15 mins. I assume the Typhoon has taken over this role which to be honest the Tornado was never really very good at.

    More or less as it say Interception.

    Yep the RAF still have the QRA which the Typhoon does now.
