All options maxxed out on the game, is this the right FPS or can I get higher?

    8800GTX usually 150fps...

I don't think you have a grasp of the basics.

-What resolution are you playing at?
-What graphics settings are you using?
-What other specs do you have?
-Where are you getting 150+fps from and what are they using as above?

    Important one-

-Unless your anal a constant 50-60 fps is all you will need.

Is your refresh rate 100hz by any chance.

    60Hz

Any answer is pretty meaningless unless we know what your other specs are, as well as the resolution you're playing at, as per Cuddlesworth's post:D

It might be right for your machine...

Check some of the hardware sites too - HardOCP is good for comparative charts etc.
An 8800 GTX shouldn't be much more powerful than a GT (especially an overclocked one).

Yes it will - but the give away in my post is 'much more'...

You really need to go to 1900 * 1200 and above...some people would still consider 1650 * 1080 as a high res.

The above are just examples - there are plenty more.
The main point is that any answer is still pretty meaningless unless you know the set up that is being used to generate the various scores.

Of course, if the OP is that anal, he should consider a new card...; )

What's the point in having the FPS that high, surely it's faster than the human eye can register??

It is. Pro Gamers say around 100fps would be the maximum. There is also a belief that subconsciously we can go to around 120+.

I would be more concerned about my minimum fps, its more important to keep it at an even level ie; a constant 60 fps. This will allow better muscle memory reactions.
    Im anal.

    A/S/L, I'm interested.
