Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Cheap Laptops in Tesco!!

    Lads and lassies,

    Was in Tesco's Longford at lunch time and there was an Acer 5051 (1gb ram, 120gb hdd) selling for €275.

    Also there was a Samsung R60 (2gb ram, 160gb hdd) selling for €299.

    Ya I was in Tesco in Youghal the other day and similar prices there. Cant go wrong with that price, just have to get rid of the bloatware off it first!!!:D

    Clearwater Tesco has to be the worst kip ever. Not only do they NEVER have any of these bargains, they have the same laptops up there for 600 Euro!

    They were S700 model Samsungs, None of the half price Acers left either as I tried to buy one but they had left the box out by accident.

    None in Paul Street either, was in there this afternoon.

    No half price offers in Tralee this week, only a sign for an Extensa 5220 for 379€ left (not sure about the actual machine for there was no box). But that's not much of a bargain anyway...

    I rang Tesco in Castlebar yesterday. There were none left there either.

    The lady i spoke with did however say there was another similar offer coming out soon...."the next week or so"

    I have to get a lap top.

    I only paid 299euro for it. That morning(18/08/2008) I saw four of them in Jervis Tesco but only 1 laptop per customer.

    It's very hard to find it at this price I reckon you need a backup gift for him.

    Sounds to me like you got yourselves a right good deal there. Can't go too far wrong with a machine that cost 299 with those specs.

    If you like Fujitsu Siemens laptops they are going for reasonable prices in Dunnes this weekend - 20% off Groceries applies to laptops and DVD players according to the notices.. Don't know full spec but in Carrigaline they had a 1G RAM with 120G hard disk and I think 1.8GHz intel processor for 399 less 20% this weekend, and the same spec but 2G RAM for 499 less 20% (maybe there were other spec differences too).

    The Fujitsu Siemens Amilo are rock solid construction - not as sexy as the Samsungs though.

    Bit like the housing market though - I get the feeling that laptops are going to get better spec and even lower price real soon - so holding off until a total incredible bargain turns up might be a good idea.
