    Hey Guys,
New to this end of the forum - usually just hanging around bands and musicians!
Need some advice on sampling. Looking at a number of different variations to use live from behind the kit.
One of the options is this -

has anyone used one of these before of have any advice on things to look out for etc?
    :)

    Very boring piece of kit...
I reckon you'd be better with something you could hit with a stick...

Yeh I thought something similar but this will interface with the laptop. Plus I can't really find anything I can hit with a stick - as much fun as that would be!

It'll work alright and it does look like more fun but I'm thinking one big problem - no USB which would be a huge advantage. Anyone know of anything similar with USB or maybe how to get around this with this product. It onlu seems to use compact Flash. :(

I was looking myself for a drum sampler as well and I like the look of this one, the Drumkat or Trapkat:

    http://www.alternatemode.com/

a bit more expensive but savage features, i dont think it has usb though but sure midi in/out should do the job. I think the roland spd one is the only one that holds samples on it while the drumkat and the alesis are trigger only and you would have to have a separate sound source like a sampler, computer or sound module.

Check this guy out doing live drum and bass on the roland spd triggering ableton:

and the same guy using the drumkat triggering the elektron machinedrum:

A midisport Midi to USB box is about €70.
