Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

hey,im wondering if anyone could give me any advice...im applying for a job with a radio station abroad, i have the experience and all that jazz, but im a little bit stuck on the application....
basically one of the questions has asked me to "demonstrate my knowledge" of a certain genre of music...(RnB, Rock, Hiphop ) .
does anyone have any ideas on how a question like that should be tackled?? Its just that im a bit confused about the question and i dont want to sound like i took a paragraph out of wikipedia!
not asking for answers, just different ideas!! Thanks:rolleyes:

    Hi Paulie,

I think the best way would be to give examples of areas that you may have worked that required a depth of knowledge in one or more areas of music.

For example if you worked on a specialist music show for a period of time that required you to know or learn a specific genre. I can't imagine they want you to supply a brief history of rock music!

I know nothing about music but would suggest that you

    A. give a brief picture of the origins of the music
    B. How it got from it's origins to where it is today
    C. Who are the main protagonists of the genre at this time and your favourites and why
    D. How you see the genre progressing "going forward" and possible offshoots and by products.

Expect that's what they are looking for.

Also be sure to look at artist information on Last.fm, and even wikipedia.org.

They are huge sources of information on something like this. Also go to Youtube and have a look at some artist interviews. All that on top of what Flutterinbantam said.
