    Hi,

Just got an Icy Box IB-Nas4220 Nas for two hard drives.

As part of setup I have to format one drive etc.

I put in a new Samsung 750gb but it cannot detect it.
When I change this for a used 500gb one it sees it fine.
I have both connected to my pc now and they look the same -security ok,volumes ok etc.

Is there some files missing off the new drive - now formatted and ok on the pc, what could be missing - .ini file ???

both drives look identical but it is baffling me how the 500 is seen and the 750 is not ???
any thing else to check ?

    Thx
    K

Maybe the onboard controller in the nas box wasnt designed to see anything bigger then 500gb ? Check out their website and their support email.

    Just thinking about this problem.

The new 750 connects to the pc fine and so does the used 500gb.
The 500gb connects to the nas fine but the 750 doesn't.

could this be down to a sata cable - sata cable in the nas is ok for the used drive but doesn't like the new one ?? hhmmm

will try out tomorrow and see.
If it is the problem - all I need is a 2" (2 inch) long sata cable

was messing with this nas over the last few days.
The 500gb is found fine but not the new 750gb.
    cables etc are all fine.

Got my brothers identical nas, and both 500gb & new 750gb are found in his ?
I even formated the 750gb in his and replaced in mine but no luck.

Am baffled as to why my nas will only see 1 drive and not the other.
Will update firmware (if it needs it) tomorrow, otherwise it has to go back.

Would like to know why only 1 drive though.

Is there a firmware update or anything for the NAS? I've heard of people having trouble with Samsung Spinpoint F1s and nForce motherboards, so it could be a compatibility issue similar to that.

    Hi,

yeah I updated the firmware but nothing.
I did try this spinpoint in my bro's identical nas and it detected it straight away.

must be something up, and have got an rma off Dabs so will send back and get another one.
