How to recognise genuine BMW alloys...

Can anyone tell me if there is a fairly surefire way if telling if a set of BMW alloys are genuine or not? My friend just had his BMW squashed by http://www.elvs.ie and he saved the alloys as they are in fantastic nick. I am going to sell them onwards for him but I want to be sure that they are the real thing or not (previous owner said they were) before trying to decide on a price.

There are tons of markings on them (numbers etc..., not kerb marks ) and I don't know what any of them mean so if anyone has any information about this I would appreciate it...

if you get the part number off the wheel and put it in the box at the side of this page then it should tell you if they are gen or not.

There should be a part number on each wheel, check this site, according to it the wheel part number should start with 36.

Haven't tried it yet but how will it tell if it's genuine or not? If it's a replica / copy surely it will have the correct code anyway?
