Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I have a vista 64 partition that has all the crap i use on it installed etc but i cant access it i keep getting a blue screen everytime.

Sometimes i can get into the "Last known good config" boot but when i restart its blue screen time again. Ive tried everything to get it to boot up.

I recently had to switch back to my old Mobo due to problems with new one i got. But Vista doest seem to like that and everytime i reboot if its manages to boot it just gives a blue screen.

    The error code i get is;
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/935806

    Stop: 0x0000007B
A "Stop: 0x0000007B" error message indicates that Windows Vista or Windows Vista Setup cannot access the hard disk that contains the Windows Vista startup files. Typically, this Stop error occurs when Windows Vista cannot locate a compatible driver for the disk controller device. For example, this Stop error can occur if Windows Vista cannot locate a compatible driver for a RAID controller.

You may also receive this error message if one or more of the following conditions are true:
    • The hard disk is faulty.
    • The hard disk cabling is faulty, or the hard disk cabling is not connected correctly.
    • The computer is infected with a boot sector virus.
    • The computer BIOS or the disk controller firmware are incompatible with Windows Vista.
    • Another program is using the master boot record.

Ive tried safemode it doesnt seem to work sometimes, ive tried a vista recover disc and it didnt help.

Is there anything i can do to fix vista or just forget about it and reinstall?

stop 07b is because you are using a different motherboard, been that way since NT4 and probably earlier

windows licenses don't allow copying so it's no wonder that moving it to different hardware isn't supported

    options - original motherboard
reinstall over the top to redetect the new HW kill or cure though and you won't be able to put back with the original mother board until you reinstall again

BTW If you were using OEM you aren't allowed to use another motherboard anyway

But a reinstall wipes vista clean? or does it install to a new windows folder?

yes a reinstall will wipe your hard drive,

if its an OEM copy of Vista its tied to the original mobo it was installed on plus all the drivers on the installation are for the original mobo so the one you replaced it with will not work,

you could connect the hard drive to another computer to retrieve any important files you need

    hope this helps
