measuring a floor..help.

Can somebody explain to me please how to measure a floor is square meters ?
if the room is 15 foot by 12 foot how many square meters is this ..

Simple question, complicated answer.

Why do you need to know?

If your painting the floor work off 17 sqM.

If you are buying carpet it comes in 4m wide rolls so you will have to buy it that way. ie Length X 4m

15 foot long room is 4.57m , round up to 5m so you have to buy 4m X 5M = 20 sqM.

If you are buying laminate flooring ask in the shop as they usually only sell multiples of full packs of flooring.

Whatever you do, allow a percentage, say 10%, for wastage.

multiply the feet by 3
e.g
14' x 3 = 42
move the decimal place back one

your measuring tape not have metric measurements on it? all builders suppliers will take measurement is feet from your still anyway since alot of people are still stuck on the old units.

Most new phones have a converter on it that'l convert feet to metres
