Hello!

I'm a complete linux novice, and destroyed my windows laptop, I downloaded and installed ubuntu, but i'm lost when it comes to setting u my internet connection.

I'm currently using 3 broadband (UsB) is there an easy way to get this to work on a linux machine without knowing much about this crazy linux stuff?

What exactly is the problem? Have you tried just plugging in the USB 3G modem? Do any windows come up?

There's some [slightly confusing] info on the ubuntu wiki. According to the Provider Info section, 3 Ireland needs some specific info put in to get online, which the wiki has provided.
