What affect if any will third party candidates have on this years election? Parties like the greens and libertarians are sometimes blamed for taking votes away from the Democrats, will this be the case again, and how big a hit does Obama take because of this? Are there any right wing parties that may take votes away from McCain? Thoughts people.

Probably very little. I think the other Republicans running (4 AFAIR) may pull votes from McCain. Certainly in the case of Ron Paul where McCains camp even contacted him looking for him to throw his support behind McCain.

ron paul is closest-to-serious threat for republican votes, though not more than a few hundred thousand. In a single state that'd matter but across the board probably not.

    Ron Paul!!
