can someone help me with my ibook and O2?

    I have finally got connected but the speed is similar to dialup. on my windows laptop its about 200k which is fantastic. i'm new to macs so might be something really basic that i'm missing. here is what i did so far.

    using mac os x 10.5.2

    i updated the firmware in modem on windows laptop
    downloaded o2 connect software, tried this but speeds were slow so tried adding new properties for connection as described on another forum like so.

    edited the 'huawei mobile' thing in network preferences
    phone number is *99#
    username gprs
    password gprs

    advanced
    generic modem
    gprs (gsm/3g)
    apn is open.internet

    then the rest are left alone. it connects normally and i have plenty of signal cos i swapped it into the other laptop and got good speeds but there must be something that i'm not doing right. hope someone can help - thanks in advance
