Just browsing on Wikipedia and found out that there will be a minimum of 7 more episodes this season. I know its not the most reliable source but its sounds right. Hopefully though it won't be the final 7.

We know there will be far more than 7, as the series was given a full 22 episode order when it was renewed. So there will be at least 14 more episodes I would have thought...

A series can be cancelled at any point without warning, sometimes without even a chance to wrap things up.

Probably wont happen with Prison Break if it does get the axe, too many people would complain.

Percisely my point. Just cos theres usually 22 episodes per season doesn't mean that there will be, and there probably won't be if the show gets pulled. All i'm saying is that there is guaranteed to be at least another 7 but then who knows?

FOX love this show and were/are prepared to cancel SCC to save it. I doubt unless the ratings drop significantly over the next 7 episodes that they will want to cancel it, and if they do, I'd say they would give them fair warning so they have a chance to make the final episode and wrap everything up. Ratings are low in America, but the show is also the second most downloaded show every week in the US and worldwide, so it still does have a massive fanbase, maybe the low ratings are just a sign that people (at least Americans) are sick of schedules they have to fit around and tons of advertisements in the programme?

OK, more news out from The Hollywood Reporter, and its not good...
'Prison' break may be on the way

The end could be near for "Prison Break."

The actors on the Fox drama have been notified by 20th TV that the filming schedule might be extended to accommodate production of two additional episodes.

"Prison" writers are yet to pitch ideas about the extra hours, but speculation is that they might serve as a conclusion to the four-year series.

If the two episodes are made, their fate is unclear as the network has not committed yet to air them, though conversations with the studio are under way.

Fox might run the bonus material as two additional episodes in the spring, though that is considered unlikely because "Prison" has struggled in the ratings this fall and the remaining six episodes of its original 22-show order weren't on the network's recently released midseason schedule.

A more plausible scenario has Fox airing the two episodes as a two-hour "event" next season, not unlike the "24" prequel this fall. Or the episodes might end up on the "Prison Break" DVD.

So far I am loving season 4 but what the hell are they gonna do for season 5? Presuming they destroy Sylla, kill the general and bring down the company, what exactly will be the plot of season 5 without it getting monotonous? As much as I hate to admit it, I think that this may be the final season of Prison Break. I just hope they end it with some class.

No, you're right. Its run its course (being brutally honest, it ran its course by the middle of season 2). I still love it though.... I really want them to wrap up the story 100%.

Agreed. The time to end it has come and it needs a proper ending.

I think the way for a spin off is being formed at the moment.

Didn't one of the creators say in an interview just before Season 4 started that they still have plans to do the Prison Break spinoff after they finish doing Season 4 or after the original Prison Break has ended? I also think they said it was going to be a completely new character and storyline not related to the original show, so no crossovers (apart from the name of course).

I hope the show doesn't end early and gets a chance to finish off Season 4 in it's entireity, because it has been great to watch from the start and it would bne a shame if they worked this hard to get the show drawing to a close and then not allowed to properly finish it. I didn;t really understand the quote from the Hollywood Reporter earlier, does it mean Fox are considering stopping production of the show now and might let them make two "concluding" episodes for possible broadcast next year, or that they will finish the current 22 episode run and then get a 2 hour one of drama like 24 Redemption. If they get the one off 2 hr special next year I could see the current storyline not fully concluded leaving it all to a big show-ending finale for next summer. I would actually be a bit pissed off if it ended that way. Conclude it this series or just cancel it, but don't dragit out to a 5th series or it will completely lose all credibility!

    Hi Paddy,

16 episodes are made, done and dusted, in the can, and will all be aired (before Christmas). Episode 10 just aired, there are 6 more, and Episode 16 is on December 22nd in the States.

From the Hollywood Reporter article, it looks like instead of the last 6, they are using a 2 hour double episode/movie to wrap everything up. So we're only being short-changed by 4 episodes. Not a total disaster (as long as they don't try to squeeze too much into the finale, like they did with Alias Season 5 a few years ago).

By the "last 6", I mean episode 17-22... sorry if that wasn't clear.

    No problem, thanks Mr E.

Seems stupid to scrap six already made episodes to make a 2hr finale. Why not just play the six then do the 2hr finale in January ?

Ok sorry I just saw Mr E second post.

I think this is the best idea. Apparently the current story-arc was to edn in episode 16 anyway and if the show was to survive a new story-arc would begin, but it seems they'll just use the 2 hour finale to tie-up loose ends. To be honest, they should end on a high note, rather than going the way of The Simpsons.
