He escaped between half 7 and 8 on Friday night, and from the sounds of it got knocked down pretty soon after. The lady that hit him took him to the UCD emergency vets. The girl working there also worked in Sandymount Vets, and she brought him back there with her which was the first place we went Monday morning to put up posters! The lady that hit him even offered to pay for the vet fees, I can't believe that. We rang her to thank her for being so kind and that we couldn't take her money, it was because of her that we have him back really! He even managed to pick up a different name while he was away.

Well, at first we drove around every couple of hours Friday night and Saturday, talked to neighbors, people walking dogs, and kids.

In terms of the internet we put out the word here, on twitter, on Pets Ireland message board, gumtree, and on lostandfound.ie

LostAndFound.ie had a very helpful article on What to do if you lost your Dog and they also list the pounds nationwide.

There are two main pounds in Dublin: Ashtown and South Co Council (Which is out in Meath)

Ashtown handles the North side and the city center. Even though we're in D4 on the South side, we're still covered by Ashtown, so remember to check both places.

The South Dublin County Council pound regularly updates photos of the stray dogs picked up. We were talking to the lady who works there on the phone and she said they put up all the dogs.

Taz is pretty camera shy so all the photos we had of him were fuzzy and not print worthy, so we found some free stock photo of a dog online that looked just like him. Lucky for us we didn't have to put up any posters as we found him in the first vets, but I'd advise you to put up posters in as many vets, shops, and public locations that allow posters as possible. We had plans to place a free ad in the Evening Herald and text into some radio stations as well.

Thanks, I'm sure that'll be a huge help to people in your position.

And although we have a lot of stickies here, maybe one to advise on missing pets wouldn't go amiss.
