    Hey guys,

Been out of the PC gaming loop for the past 6 months so no idea if the parts im picking are good value or not!

    Current spec is

    e6300 @ 2.5Ghz with AC7
2x 1GB ballistix 6400 (800mhz) one currently out of action, waiting to RMA
    750GB Samsung SpinPoint F1
    620W Corsair HX PSU
    Abit FP-IN9 SLI motherboard
    8800GTS 320MB
    XP Pro 32bit

Thinking of upgrading to the this

    E5200 http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=376380
    2x2GB OCZ 6400 http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=343039
    GTX 260 http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=355266
    32GB OCZ Core SSD http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=363369
Vista 64bit - have a version lying around for months

Total = €544 which would be my max budget. The cheaper/better value the better!

Ive compared prices with HWV and ocuk and they seem to be pretty close so dont mind paying the little extra, especially now theres an RMA centre in Dublin for stuff!

Mainly looking to play crysis warhead on decent settings, RedAlert 3 when it comes out @ 1680x1050 and older DX9 games in 4240x1050 (Race 07 and CS Source). Cant use SLI (3 monitors)

Also want it to be fast in general use and not have to upgrade for another year!

Oh and I dont mind waiting another few months if theres a next generation of gfx cards/processors/ssd's comming out and doing a full upgrade!

    Cheers in advance!

AFIK the aTi 4870 is a better cheaper graphics card than the nVidia

Hmmm that might be an idea. Benches seem to be a bit higher for a bit less of the cost.

Would it be an issue to run one nVidia card with one ATI card tho?

Also back in the olden days, I had a lot of proplems with ATI drivers, I take it these problems are gone now right?

I have had equal amounts of trouble with ATI and Nvidia drivers in the past. They are on par.

Tbh ati drivers were better/much more stable than Nvidias under vista when vista was first released....

Also recently my 8800GTS 320mb would randomly blue screen once I went past nvidia driver 169.25. Nvidia make better drivers my hole. Replaced with a 4870 which is perfect, no issues.

You cannot run two different gfx drivers under vista, Microsoft won't allow it. So you would have to have x2 Nvidia cards or x2 ATi cards with one compatible driver.

You will not be able to mix your old 8800GTS 320mb with a new ATI under Vista. you can do this under XP though.

    the E52 is fine.
the 2x2gb is ok but try and get a bit faster ram :p
dont get the 260 get a 4870 1gb if you can.
The ssd is expenive but all ssd's are if i were you i would stick with a sata for a while until the price drops on them.
Don't know about vista, never used it.
