but he never mentioned the nice little ditty that the pool fans sing to man utd about the players lieing dead on the runway,(Munich)

The Munich song was sang for decades by fans of all clubs at Utd, most clubs, including ourselves, have cut it out. It disappeared totally from our "catalogue" in the years after 1989 (Hillsborough), Utd fans now taunt Liverpool with chants of "where's your famous munich song", but it is never really sang back by anyone except very small groups and is usually booed hushed down by our own when anyone trying to act the hard man tries it.

    Not sang tbh.
and plus its not really the same as wishing someone who suffers from mental health issues, hang themselves and/or die of aids is it?

if spurs wer a top 4 team they wud b fcuk all said about our fans either.

nonsense, last week there was an article written by Kay (a liverpool fan) in the times about our chants at the merseyside derby (we had murderers chanted at us the whole match, and a section fo our support responded with "2-0 to the murderers" after Torres's second goal), or wat about the Smyth chant at Anfield?

Alan shearer gets dogs abuse from man u fans

again, not really the same kind of abuse though.
    tippspur wrote: »
paul ince gets it from w ham ashley cole gets abuse every where he goes as does robbie savage.

    same as above.

grahem le saux got the gay taunts for years, and here we have some people worried about poor old sol. spare me ffs.

if people were chanting that they wanted Le Saux to die of Aids, or they wanted him to commit suicide because he had a history of mental illness, then it would be the same thing, but it really isnt at the moment tbh.

the chant was sick and bang out of line, lying to yourselves that it was otherwise is a little sad. As the article i posted said, the decent among the spurs fans should stamp it out amongst themselves.

Agreed, bang out of order - songs like this need to stop now - If you have kids, is that really what you want your kids to listen to when you go to a match. I bet the idiots singing the song never had their kids with them:mad:

At no point was I defending the song,it's wrong..the point i was trying to get across was how come all of a sudden everyone is down on spurs fans because of it,if some spurs fans end up getting bans over it will they go around to every other ground listening for insulting songs and banning pool fans and man u fans for it, i don't think so. I'll ask the question again.where is the uproar over Chelsea and west ham fans hissing at spurs,no one seems to be to bothered about that.

well maybe the people at Spurs should do something about that, similar to the way Portsmouth and Harry have about the Campbell chants.

That won't happen because were used to it for a long long time. Maybe we've toughened more than some and are less fragile because we've had it longer than any other fans.

I think the most we can be acused of is possibly libel or defamation as opposed to some groups of fans that actually sing about factual events e.g. Munich 58 or Heysel Murderers etc.

Maybe Portsmouth and Campbell should take the case to the High Courts.

The Campbell abuse story has been my highlight of the season so far.
Yes I'm a bitter backward old sod but I hate the cnut as much as I did 8 years ago.

He should never be allowed to forget how much we hate him. I love the songs, they're very witty and you hear an awful lot worse in the pub or on a ricky gervais dvd.

The bottom line is that the judas cnut deserves zero respect, I make a point of going to every game he's played back at the lane just to give him some of my own personal abuse. It's quite theraputic and makes me feel better.

Our fans did us proud at Pompy IMO, I understand why some disagree with this. Each fan has their own view and each has different levels of hate for the judas turd. I think fans will always see the Campbell abuse situation differently.

One last point, There is definately no racial angle - the hanging from a tree lyric is reference to him loosing the plot a few years ago v west ham. The gay/homophobic slagging is there because of his undying love for Michal Barrymore !!:D

Alls fair in love, war and slagging Sol Campbell !!!

I need to say this before the thread goes any further:

This forum is hosted on boards.ie, and does not exist as an entity in it's own right. As the charter states:
Standard boards rules apply. That means no commercial advertising, personal abuse, spamming, racism, porn etc. Please do not post anything that can get the owners of boards.ie in legal trouble, that means nothing libelous please. Posts may be edited/deleted as necessary.

I would hope that I wouldn't need to expand on that, but for clarity's sake mocking a person because of their sexual orientation is a breach of that part of the charter.

If anyone would like to discuss this further, please do so by PM and not on this thread. Thank you.

i am not a big fan of sol and find alot of the songs and chants funny but
    are they over the top......probably
do i think he should get abuse....yes
would i be insulted if thousands sang them at me....absolutely
should we stop singing at him......no.

point here is, he hurt the club in the manner he left. he hurt the fans where he went to. is he gay? i dont know and really dont care!
this is spurs fans getting their own back at him. it is sport and it is banter but becks got as much stick!

lads, i understand why yous hate sol campbell, i really do....i have no problem with giving players abuse, its part of football imo, but the chant sang at Portsmouth crossed the line big time. its a shocking chant. i fear for your fan base if yous cant see that tbh.

just out of curiousity and slightly ot, but wat kind of reception will Keane get when he goes back?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,672 ✭✭✭keane=cock

i for one will give him stick!

similarly he said he wanted to end his career with spurs n 3 months later he is off to liverpool.

i said abuse is banter but some of it is ott but thats people for you......

I don't think Keane will get much stick.

Berbatov will definitely get the boo's.

Difference is, I would not let my young son or daughter for that matter (sorry I know Dad's bring there girls to the matches too:)) Go down the pub with me or watch some of Ricky Gervais material - I thought we were trying to get family's back into football, not drive them away? Do you have kid's DublinSpur?

I will say on the Ricky Gervais point, at times the language might be the same but the intent is much much different.

I'll also say if people really want to offend rSol, maybe monkey chants and bananas like the good old days? Or are some lines just not to be crossed?

  • Registered Users Posts: 29,372 ✭✭✭✭Mr Alan

exactly Recklessone, there is a line thats been crossed.

abuse him-call him a judas **** etc etc but wishing he has some sort of relapse back into his mental issues and commits suicide or gets AIDs and dies is too much.

Saw this posted somewhere else and thought it was a goodun.... ´

    Sol Sol,
    They think we´re a disgrace.
They call us the scum of the human race.
But it´s not cos you´re gay, or the colour of your skin.
It´s just all about what a cnut you´ve been.
