My uncle has been using a 3Ireland datacard with his laptop for mobile internet, he has since upgraded his laptop but the problem is that the new laptop doesn't have a PCMCIA slot instead it has the newer ExpressCard slot. Do any of the 3g providers provide these new cards or is it possible to get sim free compatible versions or will he just have to change to the usb modem?

No operator provides them as far as i'm aware, a sim free one will set you back the best part of €100, it might make more sense to go for a modem and stick it to the lid of the laptop with some velcro...
