EDIT: Children of Men - woefully bad movie.

For crying out loud....Personal opinions and all... You are wrong to think that the Dark Knight and Children of Men are in any way in the top ten worst films of all time. It doesn't matter what you think of them, sales, reviews etc... all point to both of them being above the top ten worst movies. at least

dunno about ROcky V and Walk Hard, but Ocean's 12 was absolutely diabolical. it would probably make my top 20.

    Top 10 Worst Films IMO:

    10. The Golden Compass (Ruined the greatness of the book)
    9. The Wicker Man Re-make (original was awesome)
    8. Disaster Movie
    7. Superhero Movie
    6. Scary Movie 4
    5. Meet The Spartans
    4. Date Movie
    3. Michael Clayton
    2. Barney's Great Adventure
    1. Sex and the City: The Movie

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 370 ✭✭ccosgrave

If I were to make a list, I'm sure these films would feature in no particular order:

-Dumb and Dumberer (the pinnacle of good movies being besmirched by ****ty, thoughtless sequels)
-Coach Carter (although I do like that whole "Richmond!" "Richwhat?!" "Richmond!" chant they do...)
    -Dungeons and Dragons
-Demontown (This was originally a TV series - cancelled after nine episodes I might add - which they then turned somehow into a film. The dynamic is utterly ruined and renders the film to make absolutely no sense.)
-Arctic Tale (cheap ripoff of March of the Penguins)
-House of the Dead (very little redeeming in this film -- bad plot, bad diologue, terrible action scenes)

Can't think of much else at the minute. I like to think I avoid ****ty films, though; suspiciously, most of these are films that I watched during the afternoon Sky Movies, or films that I saw as a result of other people choosing them/lending them to me on DVD.

Generally anything that Rob Schneider takes a lead in!

But I had the experience of watching 'Big Stan' a couple of weeks ago, and he managed to set the bar to an all new low

    Juno...just a big no.

Knocked up was bloody awful also.

Indiana Jone's latest....what a travesty of a movie. Shouldn't have been allowed in cinemas or on dvd. I mean the lead villain was like something that fell out of a child's movie and then the aliens at the end? No.

In fact the latest Die Hard (4.0 was it?) is awful also. I thought it was great when I saw it...then I thought about it and lord no. What were they doing. THe other ones were so good. WHY?!?

The notebook. If none of you have seen it....DON'T!!! " hours gone.

Innocent/Innocence...can't remember the name but it was a french movie that went nowhere for two hours and just when you think you're about to see something really sick or really amazing...nothing. Just nothing.

Simon Pegg's new movie...COme back from america marty feldman!

Star Wars I,II, III collectively I hate them. I don't know what it is..the acting...the cgi? Either way no!

    Vacancy.

Hostel.....it's really just up there with vacancy and wolf creek isn't it. For shame!

Anyone ever seen Tron. Its unwatchable. It was made in the early 80s. A guy gets sucked into a crappy computer game and has to battle to escape. TERRIBLE early computer graphics. Think it was a Disney film.
I hated Mission Impossible 2 also.

I'm not a fan of the very popular Lost In Translation. I thought it was boring. My girlfriend thought so too.

She doesn't like a lot of good movies like Crash, Mystic River, A History Of Violence.

In full agreement here. The source material was actually a good read, and get shorty was a decent enough film, so I'm still not sure how on earth they managed to create this pile of ****e.

"John Tucker must die" was shockingly bad... Even the hawt ladies couldn't keep me watching until the end

    fistly, Tron rocks

now, for trly dire films...(that i don't think have been said)

Tristin & Isolde - jesus it was painful
Highlander 2 - though there is a reason it's that bad
28 weeks later - no character development + **** story
S&TC - selfish, self obsessed bitches, i can see why the show only lasted 6 seasons
the original Godzilla - seriously, why the acclaim? it's bleeding atrotious!
Cube 2: Hypercube - it actually made ne nautious
Identity - could have been great except for a terrible cop-out twist.
Torque - repeat after me, a *supersonic* motercycle...um...ooookay
Hypersonic: air race earth - so bad you HAVE to google it right now!
yea, it's been said loads of times, but i'm going to have to go with B&R

Has anyone else had the misfortune of seeing a travesty of a film by the name of 'Summer of Sam'? About some serial killer terrorizing New York in the 1970's. Adrian Brody starred in it so I thought it would be good- my god, what a pretentious, boring, pointlessly convoluted pile of cráp. Doesn't do anything or go anywhere. This is how bad it is- the most memorable scene is a dream sequence with a talking dog. And that's not even as good as it sounds.

The entire 'Saw' franchise- they coined a new name for this type of genre- 'torture porn'. I don't see that point of paying 10 euro to watch somebody wrench their balls off or whatever for two hours. There's enough sick people commiting sick crimes in real life without having movies glorifying it. I fail to undertstand how it's entertainment.

The Love Guru- Oh, Mike Myers, why? Horribly, horribly unfunny, predictable rubbish.

    Hoodwinked-
lame CGI children's movie that will be relegated to the bargain buckets. Tries too hard to appeal to adults and be the next 'Shrek'. Same for 'Meet the Robinsons'- unimaginative, third rate tripe that sullies the good name of Disney.

That was a bloody great film! It was about the Son of Sam killer and the terror he inspired in New Yorkers. It was dark, sprawling and very very strange. That was a great film.
When they finally caught the dood he claimed he was taking orders from the neighbour's dog. So that wasn't a dream sequence it was an insight into the twisted mind of a killer.

 You liked it?! :p :pac:

Different strokes for different folks. I just couldn't finish it. I always finish films but in this case I didn't feel that it was worth seeing it through until the end. I usually like serial killer films but this just bored me to tears. To me, it seemed like they were trying to repel the audience rather than get them drawn into a good storyline or engage with the characters.

Just not for me, I guess. :)

A good serial killler film however would be 'Monster' with Charlize Theron. That was a brilliant study of a very tragic life. Really interesting.

    1. The Brother's Grimm - Why God Why? Why Matt Damon and Heath Ledger why? This was one of the most boring godawful piles of muck I have ever had the misfortune of sitting through.

    2. Alexander - Enough has been said on this one already.

    3. Stick It - There's a girl, she's a gymnast, it's shot in a really shaky and annoying way. Bah.

    4. St Trinians - I should have known better than to even bother, but it was worse than awful.

I'd also add Superbad and The Dark Knight for two of my most difficult to sit through and boring cinematic experiences ever - though for many reasons I suppose they can't actually be called "worst" films ever

    1) SS Hell Camp - In my opinion THE worst film ever committed to celluloid. Has to be seen to be believed (in fact scratch that. So damn terrible NO-ONE should see it!)

    2) Plan 9 From Outer Space - not even so bad it's good. Utterly, utterly crap.

    3) Jurassic Park - Hopeless movie. The only film I've walked out of a cinema half-way through.

4)The Hills Have Eyes 2 (the remake) - No script, atrocious acting, 1 dimensional characters. The thing is it could have been a good movie if they had actually developed it as the concept is good.

5)Any of the 'Oceans' movies - The critics say they were better than the Sinatra original. They were wrong.

    6) Anything with Jessica Alba in it - And that would Include the awful Sin City.

    7) Any of the new Star Wars movies - Wooden dialogue, lacking in pathos, looking more like Computer Games than movies. George, please retire.

    8) Land of the Dead & Diary of the Dead - Why George? Why?

    9) Hostel I & II - Terrible movies - bereft of any originality.

    10) Death Proof - The end of Tarantino as an important director.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,607 ✭✭✭Mal-Adjusted

hmmm...i disagree with Revenge of the sith and Sin City, great films, & if i'm not mistaken, was'nt Jurassic Park the number 1 film of all time back in '93?

One of the impressive things about COM is the length of the individual frames during the action scenes, not just the "shakey camera" stuff. but, it had a cop out ending.

Disaster movie, 300, Dark Knight, Cube 0, Men in Black II, something about flying piranhas, Matrix 2.

And I have avoided films that were already marked as brain-torture. Talking about worst films. There are also bad films, but sometimes it is funny to see a bad film, like for instance Black Sheep :) Bad film makes you laugh at least.

    3) Jurassic Park - Hopeless movie. The only film I've walked out of a cinema half-way through. Outrageous statement. If you didn't like the film, fine. But to name it as one of the top 10 worst films of all time is ridiculous. It was one of the highest grossing films of all time and brought focus to the whole idea of dinosaurs once again. Brilliant film, fast paced, some incredible scenes and cinematography.

    6) Anything with Jessica Alba in it - And that would Include the awful Sin City. I enjoyed Sin City. The acting wasn't great, the story and plot were thin, but it worked. There was action, violence, a few interwinding stories and it was good entertainment value. It was certainly watchable.
The rest of her films are drivel alright.

    7) Any of the new Star Wars movies - Wooden dialogue, lacking in pathos, looking more like Computer Games than movies. George, please retire. But very entertaining for anybody below 15 years of age and anybody older than that with a bit of life in them. The newer versions weren't as good as the older ones I must admit, but still great entertainment value

Even though you may have not enjoyed the above films, I do not think they are the worst films ever made, not by a long shot.
    Just my opinions. :)

Being the worst movie of all time has to kind of herald with it a certain cache of cool. It can't be anything banal, it has to be so awful, misdirected and abortive that it has actually transcended awful to such a state that it is suddenly entirely absorbing purely because of its sheer terribleness.
Of course now I cant think of any worthy examples!

Not even LITTLE MAN, the wacky wayan brothers vehicle.

Surely that can be deemed truly bad. :D
