Lashing hail/rain here. Temp just dropped to 2.9c. Wind NE

Looks like those showers are just developing offshore and heading inland...

    More feckin snow for Lug!!

    Hail here now dying down.

    No more lightning.

    Yup no more lightning :(

That caught me off guard when i was at the front door. Lovely bright flash to the NE. Hail also stopped.

Another radar shot and compare to the last one i posted will give a general direction there moving. Radar echoes are very elongated which shows the cells are explosive over the sea and driven inland by strong NE winds.

    5.2C
    Dp 2.3C

Was over in Dublin 17 this evening and drove through some exciting weather.

Rain, hail, lightening, hail, rain and then rain and hail mixed together.

    Breezy and cool here ATM.

    MASSIVE Hail here.

    came in a calm window.

    Vicious cell

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,778 ✭✭✭✭ninebeanrows

1cm diameter hailstone, just measured, cell has passed through now.

Went mental with the hail there for a sec. Was dead calm too, weird.

Just seen a huge flash of light in Supercell's direction.

Too far away to hear the thunder.

Mad heavy hail shower here. Big hail stones giving a covering on the ground. Temp dropped to 2.8c

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,685 ✭✭✭Mobhi1

Driving from Naas to Dublin just before 7pm, extremely heavy (wintry) showers - very poor driving conditions; car thermo dropped to 2.

Fantastic day here in Sligo altogether. Cold, crisp, low winds and sunshine for the whole day. Out of the wind you could even call it warm.

    Lovely !

Wind has really picked up again with some sideways rain.

Would really like some of that heavy hail some of you are talking about.

Just back home, feckin hail everywhere and can confirm Damo's sighting , there is thunder in Scarr's direction.
Roads are utterly threacherous with the hail never mind the odd stray deer!

In the city centre around 8pm I got caught in what can only be described as a hailstorm (in my opinion!). It suddenly just started bucketing hail and the wind became fierce too. Hail itself was quite large and the roads were becoming flooded by the time it ended about 10-15mins later. I could make out the shape of the CB's over the light pollution. Not surprised there was lightning elsewhere.

Tell me about it, my nightschool class ended in the middle of that. Got soaked on the way to the car and then sat in a fecking traffic jam for around 30 mins with the car steaming up around me..Fun stuff I tells ya!

Max of 7.2c here today. Two showers dropped 2.0mm. Currently 2.9c.

Woke up this morning to remnants of hail on cars, roofs, etc.

Max temp. yesterday 7.1c Min temp. overnight 1.5c 5.1mm of rain/hail in last 24 hours. This should be 5th consecutive day of max. temps in single figures - not bad for October.

MetE are forecasting increasing risk of thunderstorms during the day for the east coast - speaking of which there is already a nice little Cb to my east atm.

Hope this forecast is more treat than trick (given the day that's in it!) :o

    Lovely frosty sunny morning. :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,033 ✭✭✭Snowbie

Low of 3.3C, a few hit and miss showers overnight.

Thunder rumbling in the Celtic sea right through the night due to the long track over water.
Could see that anvil Docarch mentioned. Nice view of it in the early morning sun.
    5.6C atm
Wind NW overnight but should swing into the NE soon.
