The Dubliner Magazine can fuck off if it even considers Bono for the title

    Luke Kelly.

Any of the 1916 Risers who were from Dublin.

Most certainly not that creep Bono.

Born as a member of the Protestant Ascendancy, he was sensitive to his Irish birth, once stating that "being born in a stable does not make one a horse."

    Very well known quote

    Where's the link gone?

I thought he was born in sligo or out west somewhere.

That quote is taken out of context by the way, he was told he must be Irish because he was born in Ireland, his response is more a reference to another somewhat famous person who was born in a stable, he wasn't comparing the Irish to animals.

My vote would be for John Jameson

Nah, the Duke of Wellington was born in Merrion Square, Dublin and spent his youth in Dublin and Meath.

According to Wikipedia he was born on 24 September 1725 in Dublin.

But whether or not he's an adopted Dub. :D

    Was Lugs not from Kerry?

Born in No1 James Street Dublin. Earliest memory a British soldier lying wounded or dead at his doorway just inside the railings of what is now James Hospital.
