Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    with just a theory test certificate, you cant ride anything afaik

    however
    if you use it to get an A1 permit, you can ride 125s (up to 11Kw)
    if you use it to get an A permit, you can ride any bike up to 33Kw

    the same certificate can be used to get either, so makes no sense not to get the 'A', unless you're too young

    fyi, cbr250 makes 40hp, so cant be ridden on any provisional without restriction

    You can apply for either licence once you are over 18 (must check its not 17:)) Anyway at 25 your ok for either.

    Its actually 25kw or 33bhp. Not 33kw. A book like autodata or the original specs for the bike will give you an idea of what your bike puts out. Otherwise have it dyno tested.

    Yea, the theory test you applied for covers you for A, A1 and M categories, so apply for an 'A' learner permit. Think I ticked em all (as theres no extra charge for doing so), but the 'A' license encompasses all the other 'lower' categories so isnt necessary I reckon

    Sorry yea, bit of a brain-fart there with the kW/hp convention

    33hp = 25kW, as Oryx rightly says

    or over 25kW on the kW/bhp rule, 0.16kW/kg iirc.........

I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”
