Answer to climate change just woeful - sheer nonsense.

All I could think of was "the sun just hugging us closer"

On an aside the similiarity to Tina Fey is scarey.

Biden murdering her on this. The 3% of the oil, and 25% use really shot Palin's guff to bits.

    it's hardly a gaffe, it's a statement.

    Dear Sarah Palin.

You produce 3% of the world's oil ("energy" to you). You use about 25%. Please explain how you plan to make that work.

    PS, What is inderpendence?

    You write his speeches? :D

Are you on a microphone to him?

I always suspected he was a fan of my posts. Now I know.

She's ignoring that statistic again! 3%! 25%! She just says "billions and billions of barrels", like it means something.

Foreign Policy should be fun. American heroes mentioned within 10 seconds.

i'm saddened that neither side would support gay marriage.

But happy they both want to give full civil support.

I'm impressed with how strongly Biden supported gay rights. Not 100%, but still...

Yeah, she seemed to boast that she had friends with different opinions. That's not particularly great...

She was very nervous on gay marriage.

OH, She's on the attack now on Iraq.

Be interesting to see how Biden responds.

"Senator Biden - I respect when you called Obama out on that"
    Nice line

    'a white flag of surrender'

this debate is several orders of magnitude more awesome than the first one.

obama/mccain should be ashamed of themselves.

Moderator could probably have called Palin on this as I'd imagine there is quite a gap between Biden and Palin on what they regard as full civil support

Palin seemed to enjoy that Iraq question. Got one over on Obama and the surge, and then a couple more on Obama and Biden's history.

Yup getting a lot grittier now

Palin is coming out swinging on Iraq which seems a bit insane to me.

Biden very solid on Pakistan Afghanistan (unsurprisingly) and the threat from there as opposed to Iraq.

Palin with three Akmadinajad mentions to make up for McCain last week - obviously the prep work on this was time well spent

    "the Castro brothers" :P

How does diplomacy work went you cant talk to people?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,685 ✭✭✭Tom65

Biden had a good point about Pakistan, it's a pity he couldn't get it out a bit better.

Palin sounds like a complete amateur when it comes to foreign policy. She just sounds like she's talked to someone who read a paper or two. I could make the points she's making.

Did...did John McCain really say he wouldn't sit down with the Prime Minister of Spain?

  • Registered Users Posts: 43,311 ✭✭✭✭K-9

OH, Bush talked to Iran! OWNED

And Spain just to reinforce it!

Pesky Spanish. I wouldn't sit down with Zapatero either. Feckin' Spanish are all over Dublin during the summer :p

Biden is looking far, far stronger on foreign policy. "Isn't Israel just great, Joe?".

sarah palin is gona get a giftbasket frmo AIPAC in the morning.,

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,238 ✭✭✭Rowley Birkin QC

How many questions has she actually answered?

"I'm glad we both love Israel". WTF?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,492 ✭✭✭MementoMori

Palin made a mistake linking to Bush.

Biden doing very well on Israel.

Palin hasn't been the disaster zone she was on Couric but still has been far from impressive.

"We both love Israel" does she have a bumper sticker? :p

Nice line - Past is prologue - Good job linking McCain and Bush on foreign policy there.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,685 ✭✭✭Tom65

Does Palin looking directly into the camera annoy anyone else? She isn't debating the camera.

As someone on BBC: "palin's only winning to those who don't understand the issues". I hope she isn't winning to anyone.

I just came home and saw the last 20 minutes.

Biden is very polished, but doesn't come across as too spin-doctor-y nor condescending, which you'd expect from someone with his experience.

Palin has been average, and poor in places. She's referring to her notes far too much, although her response on the Israel/Palestine question was her strongest that I've seen.

Is it just me or does she seem to have a half-smirk on her face as she's making some of her points?

Re looking at the camera as opposed to the moderator/opponent (not sure if it was mentioned here or in another thread), it comes across as stronger and more forthright IMO. It's also a hallmark of US television, if you've ever watched sports analysis, the panel generally turn to face the camera as they begin to answer the question. I suppose it's to make the viewer feel involved. I personally find it bloody annoying, as I'd prefer to feel like I've a window into a debate/discussion on the topic in question. Biden seems to be mixing up his direction of address a bit more (I'm flicking between the RTÉ stream and boards to not watching it all, listening to it all and have the Cubs/Dodgers on the TV :D)
