Nope H&A. She was well cool. There was a plaited fenzy amongst my school. Ah when soaps had the impact!

Nathan was Irene's eldest son, and Irene was indeed a surrogate for Finlay, then as can only happen in the soaps, Finlay got pregnant, and iirc Irene then wanted to keep the baby she'd had:rolleyes::pac:

Oh and Guy Pierce played David Croft, he was only in it long enough to impregnate Sophie before dying:( but he left his mark! Does anyone else remember Sophie trying to keep her pregnancy secret, and she kept shoplifting baby stuff from the chemist:eek:
oh and Craig McLachlan played Grant Mitchell, the teacher who sussed that Sophie couldn't read when she got herself electrocuted in the Surf Club
    Those were the days:D

Angel was with Shane, who died in the soap and she went off with some rich fella a short while after. Rack off! Love it.:p

Melissa George, the actress who played Angel, has been easily one of the most successful Home & Away exports. Her roles since have included 'The Amityville Horror', 'Derailed', '30 Days of Night' and the tv show 'Alias'.

I think Isla Fisher is prob the most succesful though she was in Wedding Crashers and had a baby for Sacha Baron COhen.Lisa Lackey[Roxie ]was in Bones last week and Ryan Kwanten was in some god awful horror[Vinnie].They do seem to be hopping up all over the shop lately

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 659 ✭✭✭Cazlou

Ryan Kwanten was also in an episode of Tru Calling, and is due to be one of the leads in a new vampire series.
Isabel Lucas(Tasha) will be in the next Transformers movie too (in RL she was the passenger in the car that Shia Lebeuf (sp?)crashed!)

Yeah, Vinnie is in "True Blood." Nearly died when I saw him in it! He's really good in it, but it's a bit strange watching Vinnie in some fairly graphic sex scenes!

And Angel is going to be in the new series of Grey's Anatomy. I'll never forget her managing to walk down the aisle for her wedding to Shane. And then Shane died from a cut on his hand. Classic.

I'm pretty sure Heath Ledger is the most succersful.

Did you hear Chris Hemsworth (aka Kim) is going to be in the new Star Trek movie out next year - can't imagine how the hell he got a role in that - he's possibly the worst actor ever to grace the set of Home and Away....:D

yup bobbi was killed in the boat log incident

I think Jack had something to do with that accident, either that or he just blamed himself for it. I do remember he left for the navy soon afterwards.

    can anyone confirm?

It was Adam (Cameron?), he redeemed himself by saving Sam from being electrocuted when trying to stick a fork into the toaster

I don't think anybody's mentioned Gabriel, the alcoholic Irish writer who appeared and lived in the caravan park when Shannon (Isla Fisher) was trying to become a professional writer. She went into his caravan and picked up all his clothes with tongs when he was out cold.

I remember two things he said, 'Only dirty people wash' and (after reading Shannon's story) 'It's very clever, which is why it's no good. Writing should come from the soul'. His accent was terrible.

I didn't know whether to laugh or write to Network 7 and complain!

    Anybody remember him?!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 36,634 ✭✭✭✭Ruu_Old

Remember him alright, to Shannon: 'Ah where were ya ten years ago when I needed ya!' He was called Gabe in the show. He was the typical Irish stereotype, to be sure be god, be gorrah!

Thanks for the memory ellscurr! :D

Awww Alan - remember when Bobby got his letter after he died - I sobbed!:(

AH there's been a few cuties throughout the years - I enjoyed Martin Henderson's brief stint - he was the brother of the girl-writer that Shannon had the thing with, he's been in The Ring and the video for Toxic amongst other stuff since

Anyone remember there was always a natural disaster every so often?
    - An earth-quake.
    - A fire. (Caused by a car crash? I remember it burning Sally's boyfriend pretty bad).
    - A twister. Which I recall being a bit of a cop out, them saying, "Yabee Creek was the most affected."
    - A mud-slide! (Which resulted in Kirsty finding her twin Jade beneath the rubble of the Stewart house... though we later found out her and Jade weren't related).

Swear that place exists in some sort of bermuda triangle. :P

And I was always so mocked for this opinion by mates, I always thought our girl Sally was the best! ;) I'd always stay well away from the show now as much as possible - but would have liked to have caught her last ep.

Steven's uncle Philip was engaged to Stacey Macklin. She then found lurrve briefly with Andrew Foley who had previously dated Carly. Carly went on to marry Ben, played by Julian McMahon. He's now in Nip/Tuck.

Ryan Clarke (Sam) was in some sort of documentary about lifeguards on Bondi Beach a couple of years ago. He's pretty much unrecognizable now.

"he had businesses in different locations, but they rarely stayed long - one was damaged by an earthquake, another by fire and so on."

    lol

There was an Irish character once if I remember correctly., he was a poet and an alco who wore a white creased suit and a hat. I think Sally befriended him.

I think his name was Ciaran. It was around the time that Marilyn had the Salon at the Diner. When Sally introduced Maz to him she was banging on that she loved Meave Binchy much to the dismay of Sally as she didn't think Binchy was much of an intellectual.

Jack left for the Navy when things got sticky coz he was shagging Sally who was his foster sister.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 163 ✭✭tangerinepuppet

The Irish poet was Gabe Farley, there's a few posts here about him. Wasn't the Ciaran guy an archaeologist Sally went away with? I think they were even engaged. I remember the Maeve Binchy thing, but then when Marilyn got friendly with Donald Fisher and he turned her into an intellectual, she was seen reading Ulysses one day and saying to herself 'Why do people make such horrible jokes about the Irish?'

Also, slightly off-topic, there was once a question Donald Fisher called out in a table quiz at the school: 'What's another name for Northern Ireland'? And the 'correct' answer was 'Ulster'!

So between that and info in other posts, to the Home and Away execs, Ireland = burglars, alcoholic poets, archaeologists, James Joyce, stupidity and the IRA.

ARG I love old home and away! Remember the asian lad who was in it for a few weeks. He was called Hai which everyone in Summer Bay was baffled by because they thought when he was asked his name that his was responding with "Hi". Anyhuu it turned out that his english was very good but it took a good while for everyone to twig it.

Also remember when they all went out on the boat for the fundraising evening but the boat sank in a storm and the rescue was the storyline for like 3 weeks.

Teegan, Peta, Sol, Edmund, Mud, Tug, Jessie (when he robbed cars), Will, Evil Egan....

    ARG I'm overloaded!

Isn't that what kicked off the whole tired Kirsty\Kane saga? He saved her and her mother?

No that was Leah who mentioned Maeve Binchy, and Sally put her down by saying something like "Well, it's hardly Finnegan's Wake" And later on Leah confronts her and was like "I don't care about your Finnegan Schminnegan...!"

Sally was going to marry Ciaran, but right before their wedding he made a pass at Gypsy. Gypsy had to tell Sally and Sally didn't believe her at first because Gypsy was such a ho bag

I remember when Michael died! He got swept away in the river and drowned (at least he didn't do a Harold from Neighbours - Harold also got washed away, but turned up several years later, he had been living in Tasmania with amnesia)
A while later, Shannon was going through a rebellious phase - she dyed her hair black and had an unsuitable boyfriend - something happened with the boyfriend and Pippa was in a coma for several weeks, when Sam confronted her about it and said that it was Shannon's fault that Pippa was in a coma, Shannon told Sam that it was his fault that Michael died. The betch!!

Saul was the cult guy who kidnapped Selina - his son Alex was in it for a while as well, he had long brown hair and drove a motorbike, anyone remember him? He also had a son called Joey who turned up much later - Joey Rainbow! He lived with Irene I think
