    Hi All,

I am thinking of taking the plunge and getting myself a "real" bike (i.e. set of drops).

I have a Lapierre hybrid for commuting and will keep this for the daily trundle to/from work but I want to get a road bike for longer spins at the weekends with an aim to getting my self fitter and hopefully tackling the Wicklow 200 next summer.

The target terrain will initially be flat and will then look at a few spins up the Wicklow mountains when my stamina/fitness levels improve. Part of the reasoning behind getting drops is to enable me to participate in some of the bike club weekend spins - any bike club websites I have checked have drops as a pre-req.

I'm a "large" lad (6' 3'') and not of small build so I need something fairly robust.

I am thinking of getting a Felt Z70 from Winstanley bikes as this fits within my budget of 1k.

I have trawled the web for reviews on this model but have not been able to locate any so here I am looking for any advice on this make/model.

    Much appreciated.

Wiggle have the Z70 for €863.60.

This was on my shortlist due to allegedly comfy geometry of the Z series bikes. Didn't get it because I wanted double Campag (not triple Shimano) and mudguard eyelets.

It's got 105, which is good at that price.

For just over €1200 you can get the Z65 with Ultegra and nice red paint:)

Felt make great road bikes. Competitively priced, if you are buying off wiggle, many here will point you to the focus. Its a matter of preference but you can buy Felt locally (properly fitted) in Joe Daly's and get all the LBS support.

I really like the felt frames. Don't worry, they supply a pro team (Garmin-Chipotle) but might not be as big a household name as Trek or Giant.

There are a few reviews for the Z-Series out there if you dig deep, eg.
    http://www.buzzillions.com/dz_182000_felt_racing_z80_reviews or http://www.roadbikereview.com/mfr/felt/road-bike/PRD_409292_5668crx.aspx.

I have a Z80 and am extremely happy with it. It also seems pretty solid, which would be a good thing if you're on the big side. My only complaint is that I don't have enough time to ride it :(.
