Is it illegal to grow these in Ireland?

I bought these in Woodies in the midlands.

It was the last tray in the veg section and there was no tag to ID it.
Its probably veg, but someone said it may not be.

Im thinking beetroot or some form of weird lettuce.
I do hope they are not flowers, would look odd mixed with my cabbage !

I think you are right. Do I need to protect them from frost with a clotch if thats the right word.

Under a cloche or in a polytunnel/glasshouse is the safest way to grow them alright.

Im not sure i understand the Title of this thread? If you thought it was beetroot or some type of lettuce, why would you think its illegal to grow it?
I know little of plants but surely beetroot is not illegal?

Im almost certain its is. If you gogle images its a visual match.
