Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Not sure if this is the right forum, if there's one more appropriate would the mods move thanks.
My daughter bought a mini dv camcorder last year and really want to use it to make movies but I haven't been able to figure out how to hook it up to her computer. I was told to buy a firewire cable which I did but while I can run it from the camera port (tiny little port) there's nowhere for it to receive on her laptop. We made sure when we bought her laptop that it had a firewire port so she could use her camera which it has (tiny little port 2) but its like the cable has the wrong kind of fittings on the other end and there's nowhere for it to be received. know this must sound really stupid but if anyone can figure out a way for her to make use of the thing even if it means bypassing the firewire way she would really appreciate it.
her camera is a canon mv900 mini dv and she has a sony vaio nr series to hook it up to.
    thanks

There are 4 pin and 6 pin firewire connectors, you can get cables with different connectors on each end, have a look at this link for Maplins:

    http://www.maplin.co.uk/Search.aspx?criteria=firewire%20coonector&source=15

It will give you an idea of what you need, this is their UK site, not sure where your based, but these should all be available from their Irish outlets as well as from many other retailers.
