    So you decide to have a look at your chain rings as they were causing trouble last week and you want all ready for tomorrows spin. Easiest is just take the crank off and have a gander. So do that, clean up the chainring whilst at it, then stick it back on when done. Bit late, so no dawdling.

    Next morning, head off to your mountain bike spin. Chuck the bike into friends car, get there, stick wheel back on, go for a quick spin to check all is well. Put right foot onto the right pedal, lift up left foot... Ergh ?? Where's the pedal ? Oh dear. Shame and humiliation. The cranks looks like this.

    Shame and humiliation is further compounded by then having to admit to moronic behaviour and see if anyone happens to have a crank extractor in their car. Photos are taken, shame is captured, but then luckily a crank extractor is found and morning is rescued.

    Sure it could happen to anyone.
