Well then. After the last outrageously successful group buy (ahem!) my self and reactor have decided to buy a batch of the good stuff from Klaus Thomsen and the boys at Coffee Collective in Denmark. Here's what we propose.
    Order deadline is Monday night
    Order is placed tuesday
We will also place an order for coffee cups so if you want in on a pack of six then put your name down.

    http://www.coffeecollective.dk/

If someone else wants to play the "dealer" this time round then nows your time to shine.

So, I'll start things off with two 250g bags. Your move...

I'm happy to be dealer, but no problem if someone else wants to do it.

The 1kg and 250g bags of espresso seem to have different components.

Anyway, I think I'd go for the 1kg bag.

ok you talked me into it. can't offer to be the dealer this time around.

Yup I'll take a kilo to start. Can someone please link the online shop or where ever the cups and misl. items are?

I have to sit this one out guys, still no where near finished my last batch. Plus I'm moving out, and blah blah blah, separating from the wife, blah blah blah. Next time.

    Cheers

The seemingly Danish only shop is here:

    http://www.coffeecollectiveshop.dk/shop/frontpage.html

    Cups here:

    http://www.coffeecollectiveshop.dk/shop/tilbehoer-5c1.html

The 1.5 Taster pack (or Taster pakke if you're of the Danish persuasion) seems like a bargain at 40 euro. http://www.coffeecollectiveshop.dk/shop/taster-pakke-190p.html

Far too much for me though - it would take me weeks to get through that much. If someone want to split it 50/50 I'd be up for it. Failing that I'll take 500g of espresso.

I'll sit this one out too as I have enough to keep me going for a while. I already have more coffee cups than friends.

    1. ch2008 - 2x250g bags (of?) + half of taster pack
    2. RE*AC*TOR - 1kg Espresso
    3. SeaSide - ???
    4. Stimpson - half of taster pack
    5. Mr Magnolia - 1kg Espresso

With regards to the cups - would people be in favour of getting both the Cappucino & Espresso - and taking one each, or if you'd jave a preference for just one etc. Personally I'd be up for one of each, but if I had to choose I'd go with the Cappuccino as I have a rake of Espresso cups.

I'm ok for cups but if you need to spread them round the group I'll take them.

  • Registered Users Posts: 427 ✭✭ch2008

I'll just have the one 250g bag and half the taster pack so reactor if thats cool?i'm ok for cups tho. I also just received my brand new laptop. Nothin to do with coffee but what ya gonna do...anyone be interested in doin an uber-pretentious tasting session when these beans arrive?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,827 ✭✭✭stimpson

I'll take a pair of espresso cups if you need to get rid of them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,482 ✭✭✭RE*AC*TOR

It depends on HOW pretentious. If it's extremely pretentious - then yes. Any less - no.

    1. ch2008 - 1x250g bags Espresso + half of taster pack
    2. RE*AC*TOR - 1kg Espresso
    3. SeaSide - ???
    4. Stimpson - half of taster pack
    5. Mr Magnolia - 1kg Espresso

Perhaps no cups, as I appear to be the only one particularly interested.

I'll take a kilo of espresso

    Thanks

you need to work on your double entry bookkeeping??

Are you the distributor this time Reactor??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,482 ✭✭✭RE*AC*TOR

    Yes - I art distributing.

Maybe ch2008 can expand on the ideas for a tasting session. So we're all prepared once the stuff arrives.

  • Registered Users Posts: 427 ✭✭ch2008

Ah yes. I'll post details shortly

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,482 ✭✭✭RE*AC*TOR

    The coffee has arrived.

OK spoke to ch2008. The plan we thought might work was a meeting at 11am tomorrow, at a location in Fairview (North Dublin City Centre). Pretentious tasting promised for all.

He's asked me to pass on to everyone else whose interested to send your email address to him by PM and he'll sort out the nitty gritty details.

Of course I'll be there, so if people aren't keen on meeting somewhere tonight to pick up their coffee, I can bring it along tomorrow.

Last bit of info... all the coffee was roasted on the 2nd. Not roasted to order, so somewhat like the Intelli order, the coffee is now at it's prime and should be lashed into post hast (or frozen).

Can't make it tomorrow guys. Busiest weekend in months...

Big thanks to RE*AC*TOR, not oly for organising all of this, but for leaving the warmth of his home an a nasty Friday evenin to meet me in a pub car park for the handover. I'm sure it looked like a drug deal going down :)

Looking forward to getting stuck in to this in the morning - it smells fantastic!

how bout this friday evening or saturday morn for the tasting?Let me know what ya think.
Also, thanks due to REACTOR for sorting us all out, much appreciated. I had a quick taste of the espresso blend and was mightily impressed. wonderfully balanced and works great with milk. Im getting sweet malt and hints of honey in there. No chocolate though, never trust a dane...

My bag went straight into the freezer as I've so much other coffee at the moment - so I'm relying on you guys (as well as ch2008) to give a verdict.

Sincere thanks again RE*AC*TOR, nice chatting to you as always & the coffee was superb!

Looking forward to getting stuck into it. I'll let ye know what I think :)

Same to yourself. You caught me on a good day with the espresso, not so much the milk.

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 10,438 Mod ✭✭✭✭Mr Magnolia

The latte was perfect. I'm still struggling here with my pour, anyway, I'll keep trying...

Love this coffee. Probably the most mottling I've come across in any coffee I've had so far. A full flavoured coffee with a very smooth mouth feel. It's very well balanced with little or no acidity, nothing major jumping out at me. Anyone else?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,482 ✭✭✭RE*AC*TOR

Finally pulled this out of the freeezer. For a Scandanavian espresso blend it doesn't have much acidity. I wouldn't say no acidity but I've had brigher. Still I find it a very pleasing blend, a little nutty, chocolate, there is a little tickle of acidity at the end. It almost heads in the direction of grassy, but never gets there.

    Enjoying it a lot.

As I got to the end of the bag the dark choclate flavour seemed to come through more.
