Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Villa will not get a better chance to do Liverpool a favour this season. Go for it lads.

Can see Chelsea winning this one easily despite injuries.

    yeah 4-0 chelsea me thinks.

    lol

    are yis for real lads?

im not saying we'll get anything, but it wont be easy for chelsea

we've as good, if not better, of a chance of doing them tomorrow than most teams have had for the last 5 years (apart from us last year, we really shouldve gotten 3 points)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

I'd say Chelsea would eagerly take a 1-0 right now. I think Chelsea's team is currently not quite as strong as people think.

oung v bosingwa is the main one here, and there can be no doubt at all that young wins that hands down

my only concern is that bosingwa v shorey will be our undoing

Very good opportunity for Villa here. I'll probably back them for the win tbh, even though my jinx will inevitably pass on to them during the match.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,587 ✭✭✭✭Dont be at yourself

I think Villa have a real chance. Chelsea have been on stuttering form, their injuries are mounting, they're after a grueling mid-week game and Villa are always a handful. Will Chelsea have it in them to withstand a pacey Villa attack for 90 minutes?

wat are you talking about? how can you possibly say that, the game hasnt happened yet.Young is in fine form, no doubt, but so is Bosingwa, i think it'll be a good match up and could go either way tomorrow out of the left.

Wow, Villa have a pretty good record against Chelsea:

    Chelsea 4 4 Aston Villa 26/12/2007
    Aston Villa 2 0 Chelsea 02/09/2007
    Aston Villa 0 0 Chelsea 02/01/2007
    Chelsea 1 1 Aston Villa 30/09/2006
    Aston Villa 1 1 Chelsea 01/02/2006
    Chelsea 2 1 Aston Villa 24/09/2005

Paddy Power only giving 6/1 for Villa, who's giving 7/1?

i can say it because young attacking > bowingwa defending

if youve seen either player for more than brief highlights that much is clear

IMHO both managers would take a draw so, er, don't be too surprised if it's a respectable 0-0 or 1-1.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,323 ✭✭✭Savman

btw Villa will not fear Chelsea, having beaten them at VP last season and scoring 4 at the Bridge. A Chelsea win wouldn't be a total shock but neither would a Villa 1-0. Tough one to call.

    COME ON THE VILLA.

    stuck a fiver on them

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 27,857 ✭✭✭✭Dave!

ffs, odds are dropping, knew I shoulda put that on last night :(

    PP giving 11/2 for Villa
    Laddies giving 5/1

F*ckers! I'm not registering on any other sites  Any bricks and mortar bookies giving 7/1?

I wouldn't read too much into the 4-4 result, Chelsea had 2 men sent off that day.

Chelsea will win today, by two goals at least I'd say.Ballack really needs to up his game though,he was rubbish in the last game, he doesnt have the understanding with Lampard that Deco does.

I'd like to see Di Santo get a run out today, I think he'll be an important player next year.

Villa had a Knight sent off on 45 minutes and Chelsea had a sending off on 80 and 90 minutes.

Chelsea to win 2-0 I'd say.

Yeah but having Knight sent off is a bonus for Villa. Its Titus Bramble syndrome. They'd perform better without him.

I think Chelski will scrape a victory, (unfortunately), Villa far too often have a thing about slipping up once they have a few good results behind them.
Thats what the pessimist in me is saying,

optomist is saying Villa to win 2-1, Carew and Gaby to score either side of the half.

Apologies, did not know that.I had read an article the other day mentioning Chelsea two sendings off but nothing about a villa sending off.

I am still confident of a Chelsea victory by two or more goals tho.

It will be interesting to see how Bosingwa gets on,he's yet to be tested against someone like Young, bar some brief moments with Ronaldo.

I'll take a point, I have read somewhere that MON has taken more points off Chelsea since he took over Villa than any other manager

A much better bench for Villa compared to what they had last year. What a difference a summer makes...
