seperate wireless system unsecured network /cant access web admin page

06-10-2008 12:52ami am experiencing problems accessing the administration interface for the seperate wireless system i am trying to set up for garage area because the wireless on the belkin is too flaky
the default ip address for seperate wireless is 192.168.1.1 in order to access the management interface,
the user manual tells me that your client PC needs to be in the range between 192.168.1.2/24 and 192.168.1.254/24.
the default ip address for belkin router/modem is 192.168.2.1 which i changed to 192.168.0.1 thinking this might solve the problem.
i think the problem is down to ip addresses and i probably need to assign static addresses but i dont know how to do this in the belkin router interface (it was easy to do in previous netgear router)
the seperate wireless is up and running and i can connect to the internet but the network is unsecured and i am already picking up leeches i really dont want to have to start individually filtering mac addressses
below is a cut and paste of ip config command

You cannot ping another subnet without setting up a routing table, the easiest thing to do here is set both routers to the same SSID but different channels at least 4 channels apart and then run a cable between them and then you can roam around with your iProne and it will switch to the strongest signal automatically (that is if Apple have written the firmware correctly which is doubtful). Disable the DHCP in one of the routers and away you go.
Have four APs setup this way here due to thick walls and large building, it works a treat.
