    Hey All,

I'm just after moving to Newbridge with my girlfriend. We're both in our early twenties, she works in Dublin and I work in Kilkenny so it's kinda half way for both of us.

Anyways as neither of us work in Newbridge we don't know anyone in the area and I'm looking for the low down on all things Newbridge that might interest us.

    Basically along the lines of:
    Best Pubs
    Best Clubs
    Best Takeaway
    Best Restaurants
    etc...

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

    Hi,

I'm in my late twenties and I don't socialise much in Newbridge but this might help.

    Best Pubs: Coffeys/Whitewater
Best Clubs: Swifts (only night club in the town but White water has a disco bar)
    Best Takeaways: Central Grill (Chipper)
Best Restaurants: Donatellos (Italian) & Weeping Tiger (Thai) or Hangedmans Arch (Milltown, about 5 Miles from the town)

These are the places I would go, but others may have better suggestions.

    Good luck with it!!!!

Actually speaking of which is there any other gyms in Newbridge apart from Jackie Skelly and what are they like?

There is a Gym in the Keadeen Hotel. It's obviously not as big as JS but it's very nice. I'm sorry I didn't join it instead of JS. I've been in it and the pool is fab. There membership is reasonable also. The Stand House Hotel on the Curragh also have a Gym but I haven't been in it so I don't know what it's like.....

The Osprey Gym is fab, and only a few mins drive from newbridge.

The osprey gym is also quite pricey last i heard.

Swifts is a good spot, but gets old after a while, white water does have the inticing offer of €3.50 drinks on a friday nite, which is always welcomed, of course time is only a taxi ride away, and is full of people from newbridge most nites.
Coffeys as already mentioned is a good spot, or if you like live music, the bar in swifts is good for it, but I always think the place is a bit dark for my liking, more lights are needed or something!

Cooks Cabin in highfield also has to get a mention for the take aways, lovely food out of the place.

Nope we went to at least 5 gyms in the naas/newbridge area. Definately the best value for money.

Osprey Gym is great in my opinion. Whitewater pub is nice for a beverage or two. Swifts is a kip.As for restaurant my personal favourite is the Jardin Royale in the middle of town, gorgeous food and friendly staff.

Don't forget you can always go see Kildare County play if you're a footsoccer fan, it's not pretty though! A day out at the races is only 5 minutes up the road too, although I think tomorrow's meeting is the last for a while - not sure on that.

Hey we moved to Newbridhe about a year ago. Haven't been out much so no opinions on clubs or pubs.

In terms of restaurants, here's what we have found

Donatello's - Nice food, good staff. Being able to see the surly Italian at work is a bonus.
Jaipore - Really nice Indian food with really nice staff. Probably been there more times than most, takeaway is decent too.
Weeping Thaiger - Nice and lots of food, staff ok.

We also went to this really bad Italian/European restaurant opposite where the old cinema used to be. Incredibly rude staff and rubbish food.

Not been too impressed with the takeaways here so far. Buffalo's (when it was in Aberakebabra) was quite nice. Chick King has been ok too.

got takeaway from Chick King, Newbridge last week.

    Chips = horrible
    Chicken breast = nice
    Chicken fillet burger = decent

Ireland and Leicester Tigers legend Geordan Murphy comes from Newbridge.

He's from clane, and don't learn to play rugby its a rubbish sport.

Back on topic, Hangedmans Arch in Milltown is a fantastic restaurant, also Tiger Lilys in Kildare town is another option for a night club, its about as good as Swifts really.
