Hope this is the right forun.

Have been experiencing this problem for the last few weeks.

When I try to play a .MPG4 or .avi using any of the following
Windows media Player 11, PowerDVD, or VLC all I get is the audio.

Have followed the link to the WMF problem newsgroup without any success to date no matter what I try (even reinstalled PowerDVD). Does anyone know of any good diagnostic tool (free preferably - nothing worse than paying for a tool that claims to fix problems & does not) that would identify the problem & reccomend a course of action.:)

sounds like you don't have the required codec. I use k-lite myself, haven't come across something I have problems with playing yet.
