Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

i'll smack you with one of my inflattible hands. if you want a shot at my leprechaun hat, then just tap me on the shoulder and ask.

Do Cyprus have any Rangers players for me to boo?

That would be the icing on the cake.

off to the match now...COME ON THE LADS.....SA HERE WE COME.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,852 ✭✭✭✭Nalz

Just popped into internet cafe, waiting for the lads before we head off to the game. Alot of "oleole" guys with the scarfs and the pints of stout hanging around! Only kidding, great to see it will be a decent turn out.

Touch wood Gibson and Whelan will put in the effort Trap hopes for, and that will be enough.

Gonna be a bit optimistic here with a 3-0 scoreline - Keane, Dunne and Gibson to score

Im not going, yay! First home game Ive missed while at home in ~15 years. I feel strangely liberated.

    2-0 Ireland for me.

:eek: Des predicting an Irish victory?!?

I'll go for 2-0. Keane and Doyle with the goals.

Internet cafe. You have to get internet on your phone. You can't beat posting from the match.

Keep it down este, Des doesnt like positive talk about the Irish team! :D (Sorry Des haha)

A lot of very optimistic posts. I hope it goes well but I'm worried about their attacks down the left(our right).
It looks like O'Shea is gonna play there, its the big concern for me. They looked so dangerous on that side against Italy.

2-0. Doyle and Keane. Hopefully. :)

lol at the intro on RTE - tagline of The worst nightmares are the ones that are real, with a guy screaming while remembering the 5-2 and the draw.

    Team;
    CB's
    O shea
    Dunne

    FB's
    McShane
    Kilbane

    MF
    Whelan
    Gibson
    McGeady
    Duff

    FW
    Doyle
    Keane

Andy Reid on the bench, would definately like him ahead of Gibson.

did dunphy say O Shea was a world class player?

What was the sing song that Dunphy was on about?

John O Shea has a champions league medal = world class ;)

I think everyone would prefer to see Andy Reid in the side. I just hope that this does not go horribly wrong. I'm not a fan of McShane either but who knows, O'Shea has improved tremendously under Trap so maybe McShane will as well.

TBH, I'm excited about the prospect of seeing Darron Gibson play a full 90 for us. Whenever I've seen him play he's looked quality. Granted, it's a step up to come straight in for a WC qualifier but I think he has a good enough pedigree not to look out of his depth. He's training with some of the best players in the world week in week out, a fact that I believe will stand to him tonight.

Good start to the evening for Ireland. Georgia and Bulgaria game finishes 0-0.

    Are you a United fan?
How many times have you seen him play?
Do you not think that Andy Reid would be better option?

I hope it goes well but I'm worried. Whelan has done well but to put a novice in beside him does not seem like a great idea. I have great respect for Trap and I hope he is right yet again here.

Star man injured in warm up, Trap is God. :D

    woo! Aloneftis (sp) is out.

Im still wary of Constantinou (the striker, not defender) though, quality player.

Did they just say their number 2 keeper may play outfield :D

Trap is the luckiest Mofo ever.

Thats a huge loss for Cyprus. I'd expect a win now. Aloneftis is so dangerous. Great news with the draw and it got much better with this injury.

Gibson looks like he's bricking it!

Looking forward to seeing Gibson tonight, always impressed me when he's played for United

No disrespect to Cyprus, but we shouldn't lose now.

From my own personal experience and that of others that I have witnessed, I like to see guys nervous before a match. Usually they settle in quickly and play very well.
Its the guy that denies that he is nervous that worries me.

Kilbane is playing like a donkeys arse. I love the guy but Trap needs to take him off asap.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,527 ✭✭✭glenjamin

    McShane is such a liability

    More luck for that one.

He is still something else though;)

Ireland should have drove on after that early goal. Let them back into it when we could be another goal up

Duff is a delight to watch. I think we could see quite a few goals here with the form Duff is showing. We'll forgive him for the header.
