Lots of discussion and debates here on Palin and her experience, views, policies, etc.

Assuming McCain/Palin tanks up early Nov, what do people think will happen to Palins career? Do you think she will be consigned to the backpages, lose the next gubernational election and end up on TV as an analyst? Or alternatively is there any real chance that the evangelical right will get behind her for 2010? Cant see it myself as I think Romney should be the man then (already have posted that he would be well ahead in this election if he had got the GOP nod).

Lots of opinions on Palin here (mostly constructive). Would like to know what people think of her future???

She'll go back to Alaska, and if we're really unlucky, will spend the next 4 years training for a real presidential campaign and not a circus.

I think she has already become a star of the right, that isn't going to change.

People's fascination (including her detractors) with her is just too huge.

What she makes of it is anyones guess, though I have a feeling we have far from heard the last of her.

For all her intellectual shortcomings, she is not stupid & will now have time to learn what she needs.

Her greatest asset is an almost Ronald Reagan like genius for communication. His was trianed by years as an actor & instinct, I think she has been at it a lifetime as well; all the way from her Miss Alaska days.

Add that to enough steel/toughness, you have def have the makings of something substansial, for all we can laugh at her shortcomings now.

Yes but Quayle actually did serve a term as VP. I think the GOP were in such shock after losing to Clinton that they never recovered in time for '96 and by then Clinton was a shoe in.

2012 is interesting as it could be fascinating for the GOP. If it boils down to Palin on the extreme right and Romney on the more centerist side then it could be fascinating.

Its sad how many people on the right the media is catching out (granted) saying that because she is a MILF thats a good reason to vote for her. CNN found some people saying that it makes her more electable that she seems like a person that would "not be too busy in Washington to come to a Hockey game".

Cant wait for that youtube clip to show up. That report was this afternoon.

I mean hey I wouldnt mind a MILF in the house either but what good is it to pander to joe six pack and watch a hockey game when you need to be in a situation room when the next crisis happens.

Nice pic of Tina Fey there. So I guess that’s what Frank Lloyd Wright meant when he said “I'm all in favor of keeping dangerous weapons out of the hands of fools. Let's start with typewriters."

The talk here is of her being a credible GOP nominee for 2012.

Most of that talk is from the conservative right and I imagine a cynical attempt to give her the illusion of credibility.

I imagine she'll become a minor political celebrity but this is her only chance.

It was always really a win-win nomination for her.

I think she'll get the blame for loosing this election and she'll go back to her little back-water hellhole where she'll strut around like she's somebody important and will draw the ire of her neighbours.

My own feeling is that if the GOP extreme right dont champion her for 2012 (Black Pres vs first woman candidate, etc, etc) against a more centreist Romney then the likelyhood is she will end up with her own TV analysis show. Given her background this could actually be quite interesting!

Bing, TV show idea, her and James Carville on a weekly Washington review!!!!

If McCain/Palin loose Palin is in danger of going into political obscurity. They are investigating her in Alaska for dodgy dealings. She could easily loose the next governors election. Back to Idaho with her then?

Palin as GOP hopeful for 2012.

    O_O

How can any one even suggest that with a straight face.

You can't. I am on the floor laughing at the prospect.

If McCain-Palin lose 2008 election, my prediction:
    • Palin reelected Alaska's Governor for 2nd term (after her 1st term expires)
    • Palin elected as one of 2 US Senators from Alaska (after 2 terms as Gov)

Hobbes sometimes I am totally against what you say and other times you are incredibly enlightened as as per previous posts I can see this happening!!!

The evangelicals love her and in the absence of another fellower traveller or neocon they could well flock to her as the future (especially against Pres Obama) in 2012. Cant see Huckebee cornering that vote.

    Could be fascinating!
