Can anyone recommend a good car dealership in Dublin? I'm looking to buy something for around the 5k mark, nothing too flash just something to get in and out of work and down to cork a couple of times a year.

Probably best to find the car first before the dealer...private may be a better bet also

Absolutely. Dealers at that end of the market are sharks.

There is, you'll get more for your €5,000 than you ever could before. We're just suggesting that you buy privately rather than from a dealer.

What about warranties though, what would you expect to get from a dealer a couple of months or would you even get one?

Most dealers will offer some sort of warranty - it's academic though as when you buy from a dealer you are protected by the sale of goods act - if anything goes wrong (within reason), they must repair, replace or refund.

If you buy privately and it turns out to be a lemon then you're stuck with it so always get a mechanic to inspect before you buy.

What do you want from the car?
    - Petrol or diesel?
    - Roomy, big boot or small car? 2,3,4 or 5 door?
    - Fuel economy or performance?
    - do you care [mostly] about handling, reliabilty, service costs etc.
