They probably have a policy in Boots that they don't give Euro change. The cashier would have to work out what rate to use anyway, as it would be a currency transaction the other way.

I can't understand why people insist on using euro in a state where it is not the official currency.

Bakers complete 15kg sack €33 here. £22 in the north.

Went to Sainsburys Newry yesterday at about 12.15pm. Busy enough. Thought the shop looked like a warzone, empty boxes everywhere - looked like Super Crazy Prices used to or Lidl, boxes cut open rather than shelves stacked. It amazes me how a company can let shelves lie empty why arent merchandisers packing the shelves throughout the day ? No brainer surely. Couldn't get a whole load of cereals or detergents but managed to get great deals in the Chemist next door - cheaper than Sainsburys. Worth a visit, much better bargains than Boots.

20c in trolley worked too.

A question I was originally trying to get to Asda in Kilkeel but to get to it I seemed to have to go into Newry, should I have come off at the Jonesboro exit or gone via Carlingford

Sainsburys and Dunnes stores in Newry.

For anything bigger you will need to travel further north to Banbridge for Tesco or almost Belfast for Asda.

I was in Newry yesterday who picked up pram along with lots of other baby stuff like rocker, high chair, feeding chair, carseat etc.

He picked up pram, carseat and couple of smaller stuff from Mothercare. Rest from Smyths.

You can check the prices from mothercare UK site. Even if you are going to Belfast I would suggest to give them a call before you go to find out if the model you are looking for is availble. Yesterday we found that atleast 25-30 models of pram were on display but only about 10 in stock. You can book in store and collect a week later but that will involve another trip.

You have to go through Newry - via Carlingford would definitely be the scenic route! You could go to Newry via Jonesborough to avoid the jam on the hill into Newry alright. From Newry, head to Warrenpoint, then Rostrevor. Next is Kilkeel.

Jeez I made massive savings this week again. Just gonna comment on couple of items though Olbas Oil Inhaler it's average price is £2.35, in ROI it's €4.65 I got in Sainsburys for £1.36. Andrex Quilts €9 in ROI got them for £5.03

Even though the 2 companies are joined Dixons seems alot cheaper for some items.
I saw a list of Dixons on a NI Directory site but most of them look to have changed over. Just wondering if anyone has an up to date list of the current Dixons

There are no Dixons Retail shops anymore. The Brand "Dixons" is a pure online store from now on. They have made it the main online arm of the DSG Group. All previous dixons shops have been renamed to Currys.

Cathcarts are main dealers in NI. They have their own main showroom beside the airport at Enniskillen. Their website also shows a list of smaller dealers they distribute to.

I'd feel sorry for the poor residents of Newry who wouldn't be able to move from A to B in the resulting traffic; it is bad enough as it is! Maybe this won't get PP til the new road is built, like the IKEA deal down here.

Hoipefully ASDA build a car park and shop about 4 times the size of Sainsburys. Poor Sainsburys in Newry has become a victim of it's own success.
